(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners have been detained and brutally abused at the Beijing Women's Prison since 1999. The detained practitioners were also subjected to brainwashing.

Ms. Dong Cui was in her 20's and was sentenced to three years of incarceration. Once, inmates Li Xiaomei and Jin Hongwei forced her to sit in the full lotus position with both legs crossed and bent her head down so that it was down on her legs. Ms. Dong eventually died from the abuse that she suffered. This was another crime committed by Tian Fengqing (guard), and inmates Li Xiaomei, and Jin Hongwei. Following Ms. Dong's death, Li Xiaomei said, "I have already killed one person and I am not afraid of killing another one."

Another young practitioner Ms. Xu Na was also tortured the same way. Ms. Xu was sentenced to three years of incarceration, and her husband Yu Zhou died as a result of the persecution that he suffered.

Ms. Yang Jinxiang, about 50 years old, is a farmer living in a Beijing suburb. A local police officer raped Ms. Yang prior to imprisonment. He also plucked out her pubic hair and burned her nipples with a cigarette. After going on a protest hunger strike, Ms. Yang was punitively force-fed. One of her front teeth was knocked out when her mouth was forced open. Currently, Ms. Yang is still being grossly abused at the prison.

Professor Ms. Li Li used to teach at the Supreme People's Procuratorate. After arriving at the women's prison and seeing the torture suffered by Falun Gong practitioners there, she wrote a letter to the Supreme People's Procuratorate, reporting these crimes committed by guards and inmates. The guards retaliated when they found out about this. Ms. Li was deprived of sleep, forced to stand for a long time, and subjected to brainwashing for more than 20 consecutive days. This caused Ms. Li's legs to be swollen severely. She was also forced to step on the Falun Gong founder's name that was written on the floor. The prison authorities also punished the entire prison population whenever they did something to Ms. Li, so as to incite resentment towards her from the inmates.

Ms. Zhang Guolan, a practitioner in her 50s, lived in a Beijing suburb. She was held at a Youth Detention Center, where she was only allowed to sleep for one to two hours a day, while being beaten and constantly brainwashed during the remaining time. This lasted for one year and continued after she was transferred to the women's prison.

Ms. Liu Xiuqin, a practitioner who lives in the Shijingshan Area, was sentenced to seven years of incarceration. Li Xiaomei and other inmates ordered her to sit in the lotus posture and then forcibly pressed down and held her legs. It was very painful, and she could not walk for a period of time afterwards.

Ms. Zhao Xiuhuan, a practitioner in her 50s, lived in Beijing. Jin Hongwei and other inmates forced her to do splits. As a result, she was injured and had blood in her urine. Ms. Zhao could not squat down at the toilet but had to use her hands to support herself on the ground. Jin Hongwei then stomped on her hands.

Ms. Yue Changzhi is a practitioner in her 60s. Jin Hongwei and other inmates also forcibly made her do splits, injuring her spine and back in the process.

Ms. Zhao Yumin, a practitioner from the Chaoyang District in Beijing, was sentenced to two and a half years of incarceration.

Ms. Wang Shuzhen is a farmer from a Beijing suburb. Guards ordered her to wear very little and forced her to stand for a long time in the yard. She was beaten almost daily. Her daughter missed Ms. Wang very much but could not see her, which led to her having a mental disorder. Ms. Wang asked to see her daughter, but the guards used it against her to try to force her to give up Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhou Zi is a young woman. The guards ordered inmates to surround her and bombard her with filthy verbal abuse. The guards eventually took her away for intensified abuse for her refusal to wear an inmate's ID badge. Ms. Zhao Xiuhuan stood up and said, "You cannot treat a child like this!" This led to intensified abuse for Ms. Zhao also. They had to get up at 5:00 a.m. each day and were not allowed to sleep until midnight. They were also forced to copy the prison rules over and over again and could not sleep until the assignments were finished.
