(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in ten cities and six provinces. In this report, four practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 17 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Shuling Persecuted

On February 22, 2010, Ms. Zhao Shuling from Gao Village in Shiling Town went with her daughter to shop for clothing in Nanshangle Village Market in Shiwo Town, the Fangshan District of Beijing. They were reported to authorities while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. Officers from the Shiwo Town Police Station arrested them.

Fang Jinbao and other officers from the Shiwo Town Police Station deceived Ms. Zhao's seven-year-old daughter into telling them her parents' names and home address. The police went to Ms. Zhao's home and confiscated her personal property, including a television, DVD, voice recorder, Dafa books, electric car, and other items. They also extorted 1,000 yuan from Ms. Zhao and took several hundred yuan worth of food. Ms. Zhao Shuling and her daughter were subsequently released.

2. [Tianjin City] Supplementary Information on the Persecution of Ms. Guo Chengru

Ms. Guo Chengru, 40, from the Hexi District of Tianjin City, works at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin Medical University. She was arrested by officers from the Youyi Road Police Station of the Hexi District on the afternoon of December 9, 2009, while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to a patient. She was taken to the Xiqing District Caozhuangzi Detention Center in Tianjin City and held for 15 days. On the night of her arrest, police officers went to her home and confiscated her personal property, including a computer, television, 900 yuan in cash, and Falun Gong informational materials.

Police station officials informed her family on December 11, that Ms. Guo would be detained for one month. However, she is still being held in the Hexi District Wushuidao Detention Center.

3. [Wanyuan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Mingying and Mr. Zhang Zhenhua Sent to Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Wang Mingying, Mr. Zhang Zhenhua, Mr. Wang Pingchang, and five additional practitioners from Wanyuan City were arrested by officials from the 610 Office, police officer Ye Xiaodong, and other officers from the Wanyuan Police Station on January 17, 2010. The eight practitioners had been explaining the facts about Falun Gong to others. They were taken to the No. 1 Wanyuan Detention Center. Ms. Wang Mingying and Mr. Zhang Zhenhua went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and were beaten, verbally abused, then shackled with over 40 kg (approximately 90 lbs) of chains.

Ms. Wang Mingying and Mr. Zhang Zhenhua were sentenced to one year and six months of forced labor and taken to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan Province. Three other practitioners were released on February 2.
