Party Officials in Deyang City Force Residents to Sign "Pledge Card"

Since this March, the Deyang Municipal Party Committee in Sichuan Province and the 610 Office have been forcing residents to sign "pledge cards" against Falun Gong and are distributing brochures attacking and slandering Dafa.

Below are details about the persecution that recently took place in the six counties in and around Deyang City.

Deyang City

In the Guanghua community at Dongshanbei Lane, residents who receive low-income financial assistance are forced to sign pledge cards against Falun Gong. Otherwise, their payments are withheld.

Guanghan City

In February, local officials printed out pledge cards and brochures, and in March, they distributed them to various towns.

On March 11, in Xiangyang and Xiaohan towns, the head of the production team distributed pledge cards and brochures door to door and asked people to sign them. In some areas, the head of the building signed for all the residents.

On March 12, officials put up big banners slandering Dafa at the entrance of the town hall in Lianshan town.

Such banners were also put up on the roads in Jinyu Town and Beiwai Town.

In the Fourth Team of Nanxing town, most residents have signed the pledge card. They were told that if they did not sign, their children cannot join the army or go to college in the future.

Shenfang City

In February, local officials printed pledge cards and brochures. It said on the cards that if anyone reports Falun Gong practitioners' meetings or other activities, they would be awarded 300 yuan. Anyone who turns in a Falun Gong practitioner would be awarded 500 yuan. Anyone who reports on nighttime activities of Falun Gong would be awarded 1,000 yuan. In March, the authorities distributed the cards and brochures to various towns and communities in the Fangting area.

Feng, head of Mazu Town's Jing'an village, distributed the pledge cards in March. He told the people who are on night duty to report on practitioners if they are found having group Fa study or distributing truth-clarification materials.

Residents in the Shangjiachang communities of Luoshui Town were asked to sign the pledge cards.

In the Baiguo area of the Fangting District, the head of each building waited on the first floor for residents to sign the cards. For people who could not write, the head would sign for them. They claimed, "If you don't sign, that means you practice Falun Gong." They forced everyone to sign.

In the Liminlu communities of Fangting District, the officials set up a table in front of the office building at around 10 a.m. on March 30. They asked pedestrians to sign the card. Many of them signed without even knowing what it was for.
