(Clearwisdom.net) NEWARK, New Jersey--Shen Yun closed its second show in Newark to a standing ovation on May 23 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. During the intermission of the afternoon show, Johnny Sandaire, a researcher for a global computer company, said the show was "inspirational."

"They do a lot of cultural dances and they talk about beliefs, inner beliefs," said Sandaire. "Also, they support the fact that human beings are very special and shouldn't just focus on material things, there's something beyond, and with 5,000 years of culture, they're able to compress it into what I've seen so far."

Sandaire said he particularly enjoyed the choreography of the show. "The way the movements are coordinated, it seems that they are floating as they are walking," he said. "It seems like they put a lot of energy into learning and performing the arts. So I really appreciate it so far."

Attending the show with Sandaire was his girlfriend, Kathrine Haberko, who works as a psychotherapist. She added that the choreography also stood out for her, "The design and choreography, and the lines, the way they move, it's absolutely beautiful."

"I love it. It's incredible. It's absolutely beautiful," Haberko said.

"Constant message of survival and hope"

Tiffany Chen, a retail manager who came to see the show with her family, said she particularly enjoyed a dance of the Miao people, which included dancers with elegant silver headdresses.

"It was great. Very educational," said Chen.

Chen's mom, Lori Chen, a teacher, added "I thought it was just so colorful and so intricate in the choreography. It is truly a performing art."

Shen Yun presents themes of kindness, compassion, and courage which are brought to life through stories, legends, and song. It portrays hope amidst adversity, kindness amidst hardship, and courage amidst challenges.

Lori Chen said she was interested in the overall theme. "I thought it was really intriguing ... the constant message of survival and hope, and how you choose to live your life," she said.
