(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Cuiqin, a practitioner in Qian'an City, Hebei Province, died on May 1, 2010. Three days later, her daughter, Ms. Liang Xiulan, was sent to Shijiazhuang Women's Prison to serve an eight year sentence.

Ms. Li Cuiqin, a resident in Xiaguanying Village in Qian'an City, was 65 years old. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Li was sent to a brainwashing center. Her son, Liang Xiusheng, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in 2008, and didn't return home until late 2009. Her daughter, Liang Xiulan, was arrested many times for practicing Falun Gong and tortured until her life was in jeopardy. Ms. Li Cuiqin passed away because she could not withstand the stress of her children being persecuted during the past several years.

Daughter Liang Xiulan Subjected to Electric Shocks

After Liang Xiulan was arrested in May 2008, Pu Yonglai, from the Domestic Security Division, Qian'an City, tortured her. He handcuffed her hands to two chairs, one on each side. Then Pu Yonglai and another guard, each with an electric baton in hand, began shocking her. It was so painful that Liang Xiulan knocked her head against the ground. Because of this, she had a bump on her head that was bigger than a fist, and she lost her eyesight. Pu Yonglai then dragged Liang Xiulan by the hair and continually shocked her. Because of the tight handcuffs, Liang Xiulan's wrists were bruised and bleeding. After torturing Liang Xiulan with electric batons, Pu Yonglai was so exhausted that he went to take a nap.

The next afternoon, guard Ha Fulong, together with two other guards, tortured Liang Xiulan again. One guard shocked Liang Xiulan's lower body, pubic area, foot arches etc., while another guard shocked her neck, breasts, etc. Due to the torture, Liang Xiulan had bruises all over her body. Ha Fulong laughed about it.

Liang Xiulan was arrested again on April 1, 2009, by Pu Yonglai, Ha Fulong, Tang Guoqiang, and others. She went on a hunger strike to protest the police brutality. After being force-fed many times, Liang Xiulan's health suffered.

Hearing Held While Liang Xiulan Was Unconscious

Liang Xiulan was carried from the brainwashing center to a Qian'an Court on May 12, 2009. Because of the torture, she was unconscious, emaciated, and her face was deformed. During the four-hour hearing, Liang Xiulan lay unconscious and in danger of dying at any moment. Nevertheless, Zhou Wenqing and Wang Wen from the Procuratorate, Feng Xiaolin and Zhao Wenlu from the court, and brainwashing center head Yang Yulin continued with the hearing. They didn't notify her family about the hearing. Afterwards, the Qian'an City Detention Center and Brainwashing Center didn't dare to keep Liang Xiulan any longer, so they sent her home.

Liang Xiulan Arrested Once Again--Family Visits Denied

Liang Xiulan had barely recovered when she was arrested once again by the Domestic Security Division on September 11, 2009.

Several days later, Liang Xiulan's mother, already in her sixties, along with her daughter--a school student, went to the police department to ask for her release. The police refused their request and swore at them. After a few days, Liang Xiulan's mother and sister-in-law went again to ask for Ms. Liang's release. The police officials involved didn't meet with them. Liang Xiulan's mother and younger brother then returned again on September 20 to bring her some clothes. The detention center officials denied the visit and delivery of the clothes, and exhorted 2,000 yuan from them.

CCP officials secretly sentenced Liang Xiulan to an eight-year prison term on December 3, 2009. After seeing the persecution of both her daughter and son, Ms. Li Cuiqin was severely distraught mentally. She passed away in deep grief on May 1, 2010.

While Ms. Li Cuiqin was dying, Liang Xiulan's family talked with Peng Minghui, deputy head of the Qian'an City Police Department, asking that Liang Xiulan be allowed to see her mother before her death. At that time, Liang Xiulan was still detained at Qian'an Detention Center. The request was denied.
