(Clearwisdom.net) One of the authors of the book Bloody Harvest, well-known Canadian attorney Mr. David Matas, appeared in Vancouver recently for a book signing event. He also gave a speech to expose the live organ harvesting in China. His speech and the book caused a stir among the audience and readers.

The book signing was held in a public library in downtown Vancouver on the evening of June 2, 2010. Many local residents attended. Mr. Matas spoke of the reason for the independent investigation that he and Mr. David Kilgour conducted, as well as the process and conclusion.

Mr. Matas said that they were asked by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong to conduct an independent investigation of the allegation of organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Initially they did not believe live organ harvesting was taking place, but changed their view in the course of their investigation.

Mr. Matas pointed out that organ transplantation is an important financial resource for the CCP's medical system. The waiting time for organ transplantation is only a few days in China, but several months to years in other countries. This means that there is a large bank of unwilling donors supplying organs and people are being killed for the needs of patients. There is a big difference between the number of Chinese death row inmates and the number of organ transplants in China. The organs are not from willing donors, but from Falun Gong practitioners.

He said that after endless calls, there have been many changes across the world. Even the Chinese government had to admit that organ transplants have come from imprisoned inmates, set up rules for organ transplantation and limit foreigners from getting organ transplantations in China.

For example, Israel passed a law banning organ sales and stopped providing medical insurance for those getting organ transplants in China. Taiwan denies visits by Chinese doctors involved in organ transplantation. In Australia, the main hospitals of organ transplantation in Queensland do not train Chinese doctors anymore. In Belgium and Canada, there are proposals to ban organ transplant tourism.

Mr. Matas called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, which is the direct solution to stop the crime of live organ harvesting. Falun Gong practitioners are innocent and should not be persecuted. The Chinese forced labor system must be abolished. The Chinese government must stop harvesting organs from imprisoned inmates.

Ms. Dev Horton, one of the audience members, was the first to get a book signed by Mr. Matas. She said she admired Mr. Matas and people believe him. Ms. Horton said she would donate the book to the library after reading it in hopes more people would read it.

Mr. Jiang from China pays attention to the state of democracy in China. He said, "The CCP has no morality and can commit any crime."

Another audience member, Edward, was the last one to leave the signing. He was indignant at the CCP's live organ harvesting, "It is a crime for a government to harvest vital organs from citizens for lucrative profit! I knew about the persecution of Falun Gong. But I did not know so many Falun Gong people have been killed during imprisonment for profit and medical treatment. It is disgusting. The CCP is a criminal organization."
