(Clearwisdom.net) Yu You was illegally arrested on May 30 2008 by police from the Beixing Branch, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. On the very first afternoon, he was subjected to a violent beating at Hongxinglong Detention Center. A plastic bucket was put over his head and the police beat his head so hard that some of his teeth were knocked out. He was not allowed to sleep during the night. Later on he was {illegally sentenced} by Hongxinglong Court to six years. In April 2009, Yu You was transferred to the first ward in the first division of Jiamusi Prison, where he was mentally and physically tortured in an effort to make him renounce his faith in Falun Gong.

A team leader in the First Ward Su Jiafeng, officer Zhang Lei, and guard Chen Chunlin tried to force Yu You to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong, but Yu You refused. Su Jiafeng ordered prisoner Zhang Feng to slap Yu You's face in the hall in front of many other prisoners and officers.

On one afternoon in June 2009, Su Jiafeng and Zhang Lei ordered Yu You to read aloud articles denouncing Falun Dafa. When Yu You refused, he was beaten by Su Jiafeng, Zhang Lei, and inmates including Sun Hualun, Zhang Feng and Lin Jinfeng. In Room 107 of the first Ward, several people swarmed him to punch, kick, and whip him with a belt. Yu You was then sent to Room 106 for more beatings.

Prisoner Sun Hualun struck him with leather belts so hard that Yu You's right pinky finger was fractured, and to this day has not healed. His face was purple because of the bruising and swelling, and an inch-long cut on his right cheek was left open instead of being stitched up. His whole body was black and blue in many places. The buckle of one of the belts was broken during the beating, which had lasted for three hours when he passed out.

When Yu You woke up, he could not move or walk under his own power. Even so, Su Jiafeng still forced Yu You to do hard labor. Even now, Yu You's back still hurts very much, and he finds it very difficult to move. He requested many times to see a doctor, but his request was turned down each time.

One day in October 2009, before work started, guard Chen Chunlin called in Yu You and told him, "You have to finish polishing one thousand gems today, or else you will be beaten." Yu You tried his best and finished more than 700 gems. After work stopped for the day, Chen Chunlin took Yu You to his office and slapped and punched his face and chest. Yu You talked to team leader Liu Renli about the abuse, but he was ignored.

Guards in the First Ward are particularly vicious in forcing Falun Gong practitioners to do manual labor. They are often forced to work into the night to complete their quotas.

On January 5, 2010, when Yu You wrote that he would not give up Falun Gong, he was denied the right to receive family visitation or make phone calls to his family.

Yu You has been transferred to the Fourth Team in the Second Ward in Jiamusi Prison, and he is still being forced to perform manual labor for the prison.
