Practitioners from Liaoning and Hunan Provinces Die after Enduring Torture

1. Ms. Wei Shuwen from Yi County, Liaoning Province, Died after Being Tortured

Ms. Wei Shuwen was a resident of Guandimiao Village, Chengguan Township, Yi County, Liaoning Province. She died on May 15, 2010, at the age of 64 after being tortured. She was taken to a forced labor camp twice and tortured.

Ms. Wei used to have stomachaches, nausea, inflamed urethra, vertigo and heart disease. She supported three children and could not afford medical treatment. After she began to practice Falun Gong in July 1998, she became healthy.

On September 22, 2001, Ms. Wei and her youngest son went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. They were arrested by Tiananmen Square police and taken to separate forced labor camps.

In the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Wei was deprived of sleep and forbidden to use a toilet. She was beaten, forced to stand in a certain position for a long time, and made to perform labor. Her blood pressure rose and she went into a coma. She was at a hospital for over a month and her family was not informed. On March 1, 2003, Ms. Wei was taken home, as was her son.

Four days later, on March 5, four officers from the Yizhou Town Police Station in Yi County broke into her home and arrested her and her husband. The police demanded that they sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong, but they refused. After their daughter-in-law signed for them, they were released.

On July 12, 2003, the police broke into her house again and both husband and wife were taken to a county detention center. One month later they were transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, where they were imprisoned for a year and a half.

Ms. Wei was tortured, beaten, forced to stand for a long time, deprived of sleep and forbidden to use the toilet. She was forced to produce products for which the material emitted poisonous fumes. Six months later, Ms. Wei fell into a coma again. The camp did not want to accept responsibility and took her home.

The police from the Yi County Public Safety Bureau continued to break into her house, and threatened and harassed her. Her physical and mental health deteriorated. She died on May 15, 2010.

2. Middle School Teacher Ms. Liang Jianqin from Fengyang, Hunan Province Dies after Injection with Unknown Drugs

Ms. Liang Jianqin, a teacher at the Xiaoshui Middle School in Fengyang City, Hunan Province, was arrested five times, detained four times, put in a forced labor camp for a year and a half, and taken to a brainwashing center once because she practiced Falun Dafa and wanted to be a good person. She was injected with unknown drugs at the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City. She lost her eyesight and became a paralytic. Her liver and kidneys were damaged. She died on February 16, 2010, at the age of 46.
