(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Nie Feiyue was taken to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City, Hunan Province on two occasions simply because he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. After his last detention ended in 2004, Mr. Nei showed symptoms of a mental breakdown, and has not recovered in the years since.

Nie Feiyue suffered a mental breakdown due to being tortured for his belief

Mr. Nie and four other practitioners from Hengyang were detained in a dark room of the forced labor camp in July 2000, during the heat of the summer. They were deprived of sleep and forced to stand around a big stove in the middle of the room. If anyone moved, they were beaten. They were tortured in this way for a week. The guards tried to forced them to write a guarantee statement to give up Falun Gong. When the practitioners didn't comply with the guards, they were sent to every brigade and forced to perform labor for 15 to 16 hours a day, sometimes even 24 hours straight. This caused them to be dizzy, and their eyes to become bloodshot and painful.

Mr. Nie was taken to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp for the second time in October 2003. In the beginning, the guards forced him to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong all day to try to torture him mentally and spiritually. Mr. Nie, however, didn't compromise his belief after ten days of being forced to watch the videos. He Jun, the No. 3 team leader, then instructed other inmates to monitor Mr. Nie at all times and not let him communicate with anyone. At night, he was deprived of sleep, forced to stand for a long period of time, and beaten. They later tied his feet together and both of his arms up behind his back. They wrapped long strips of cloth around his body and the bed, and tied them off so that he couldn't move, and they stuffed socks in his mouth. He was tied up in this position for four days straight. As a result, he couldn't move or walk for a whole week after that, and both of his hands became so numb that he couldn't even carry a bowl. Furthermore, he suffered a mental breakdown, was in a daze, and lost parts of his memory.

The perpetrators still continued to torture him, depriving him of sleep for a whole night, forcing him to stand for a long period of time, and beating him. Mr. Nei's father and wife went to visit, but weren't allowed to see him and were never told of his condition.

It wasn't until his term was up in 2004, when the local 610 Office officials picked him up, that his family discovered what had happened to him.

Mr. Nie Feiyue never talks to anyone, but only mumbles nonstop. He is unable to work or do anything around the house. Although it has been six years, his condition has not improved.
