Ms. Wu Xiulan from Longhua County, Hebei Province Died as a Result of Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Xiulan, 76, lived in Houjie Village, Zhangsanying Town, Longhua County, Hebei Province. She was arrested on her way to Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province in October 2009 and held in an undisclosed location. Her family was contacted by the authorities at the end of December 2009 and told to pick her up at the Longhua County Detention Center. Ms. Wu showed symptoms of severe illness and suffered from a distended abdomen. She died on February 5, 2010.

Ms. Wu Xiulan had gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 1999 and was held in the Longhua County Detention Center for six months. Following her release, Zhangsanying Town government officials restricted her freedom for more than 40 days. The following year she was detained for 15 days and a year later, in 2001, she was incarcerated in a brainwashing facility organized by the Longhua County 610 Office.

Longhua County Police Department Domestic Security Section officers Wang Shumin, He Guochun, and Liu Xueshan have actively participated in the arrest of many practitioners in the area. They went to practitioners' homes and deceived the practitioners into going to the police department with them, but then immediately took them to forced labor camps.

Many practitioners in Longhua County were arrested between 2007 and 2008. One was subjected to forced labor, and nine practitioners had money extorted from them. Seven practitioners were arrested on July 16, 2008. They are: Yu Zhuhai, Yu Zhujiang, Feng Chunxiang, Xu Fenghua, Dong Ziyun, Wang Dehe and Cui Zhenying. Fengning County Domestic Security Division officers made the arrest. Fengning County Court officials sentenced six of the practitioners to imprisonment. Mr. Yu Zhujiang was sentenced to a ten-year prison term; Ms. Dong Ziyun to eight years; Ms. Xu Fenghua to seven years; and Ms. Feng Chunxiang to one year, with one and a half years of probation. Mr. Wang Dehe and Ms. Cui Zhenying were each subjected to one year of forced labor. Both were released at the end of their terms.
