Former High-ranking Chinese Communist Party Officer Talks About Falun Gong

July 21, 2010 |   By Clearwisdom/Minghui reporter Changxian

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Xiao (an assumed name), who is in his sixties, is a former high-ranking Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officer. He has a basic understanding of Falun Gong and has read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Mr. Xiao and I talked by chance about Falun Gong and the eleven-year persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of the CCP. Mr. Xiao spoke about his learning of Falun Gong and his observation of the persecution. The following is our conversation.

Reporter: May I disclose your real name?

Mr. Xiao: It is better not to, as I have a deep knowledge of the communist party, and it persecutes people without hesitation. For the sake of my family and friends, it's better to keep it secret.

Reporter: Do you know about Falun Gong?

Mr. Xiao: Frankly, I did not know much about Falun Gong in the beginning. I wasn't interested in it, and could not be labeled as liking or disliking it. It caught my attention when Jiang Zemin started to persecute practitioners. I learned from several practitioner friends that Falun Gong was very beneficial to health. It confused me more about the situation. I had many questions after the 2001 Tiananmen self-immolation incident. Why was it so easy to get fire extinguishers into Tiananmen Square? Why was a burned patient's entire body being wrapped in bandages? How could the girl named Siying speak loud and clearly after she had a tracheotomy? Although I had questions, I didn't expect that our "great party" would to play so dirty.

Reporter: What was next?

Mr. Xiao: At a friend's place, I first watched the VCD analyzing the self-immolation incident, and later the award movie "False Fire." I learned that the incident was directed by Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan to make false charges against Falun Gong and the victims, a mother named Liu Chunling and daughter named Liu Siying, who were murdered. I was shocked and almost lost my composure. The party, which I had trusted for so many years, although I was aware of its many problems, was so low it was beyond my imagination. I realized it is simply a rogue gang, and I was outraged. The feeling of being deceived was very painful. I have since totally lost my faith in the party. I withdrew from the CCP with my friend's help.

Reporter: Can you talk about your understanding of Falun Gong?

Mr. Xiao: Things in this world can sometimes be either right or wrong, with a clear cut between them. Jiang Zemin was wrong, and Falun Gong is right. I learned about Falun Gong through educating myself. I read Mr. Li Hongzhi's book Zhuan Falun. It's a very good book on cultivation practice. Falun Gong is a high-level cultivation practice in the Buddha School, cultivation of mind and body. Before the persecution, more than 100 million people practiced it in China. People in more than one hundred countries and regions are now practicing it. It's hard to imagine that Falun Gong lacks deep meaning or inspiration.

Reporter: You were a high-ranking officer. From your observation, what were the reactions of cadres after the Jiang Zemin's gang began persecuting practitioners without reason?

Mr. Xiao: After the disaster of ten years of the great cultural revolution in China, the degree of trust in the CCP had decreased among cadres. They are especially not interested in far left politics. Jiang Zemin knew that there was no basis for the persecution and no root, so no persecution-related meetings were ever released with formal documentation. The releases were secret telegrams without documentation, which were required to be destroyed right away. People in charge of all units spoke in secret, "Since this is considered right, why not release documents openly? Why handle it in the dark, using secret telegrams?" Actually Jiang dared not issue formal documents because he was afraid of being brought to justice if he left evidence. Some units invited expert speakers to their conferences criticizing Falun Gong. Some cadres who were invited tactfully rejected because they had their own opinions.

Through communication with acquaintances, we noticed that most of the middle and high-level cadres privately supported or were in sympathy with Falun Gong, and thought restitution was only a matter of time.

Reporter: What do you think about the current situation and what is your outlook?

Mr. Xiao: The CCP is taking advantage of an appearance of economic prosperity, and tries to portray a peaceful society, without mentioning the many problems with the economy. At the same time, they are very uneasy about the severe political problems. There are too many problems in China. The first one is Falun Gong. The persecution has led to serious social problems, which will be an important cause of the CCP's disintegration. The second one is the strong discontentment among Chinese, with farmers losing their land, workers losing their jobs, and graduates having a harder time finding jobs, as well as inflation, corrupt officials everywhere, etc. The third is the CCP cadres' failing management. People have lost their faith in the party. To protect themselves, cadres are hedging their bets. While they are following orders half-heartedly, they are privately making derogatory comments. Once the wind shifts, the CCP will be cast away overnight.

The top leaders of the CCP know this well, but they need to deceive people as well as themselves. They have no solution except playing deaf and dumb, or spewing lies like "China will be in chaos if the CCP falls from power." They are using lies to cover themselves and scare people.

The future of China lies in great reform, which will not be far away. The day that the splendor of Falun Gong returns to China is not distant.
