(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 12 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Additional Information on the Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners Zhang Guizhi, Xia Guizhen and Li You
On the afternoon of July 27, 2010, Changchun Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Guizhi and Ms. Xia Guizhen, accompanied by her grandchild, were in Nanhu Park telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Some plainclothes police arrested them and sent them to the Weixinglu Police Station. At 5:00 p.m. that day the police searched their homes and arrested Ms. Xia's daughter Ms. Li Yu. They confiscated a desktop computer, a laptop computer, a disc writer, two printers, and a pen recorder. Ms. Xia's grandchild was not released until 10:00 p.m. that night.

2. [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Chen Chunlin Arrested at Tianhe District on July 23
3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Yao Congxiu and Liu Lixin Arrested
In the evening on August 1, 2010 Ms. Yao Congxiu and Mr. Liu Lixin from Xinbin County, Fushun City were arrested by police from the Wangqingmen Police Station while they were distributing Falun Gong material. On August 2, they were sent to the Fushun City Detention Center where they were persecuted.
4. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Zu Xuzhen Arrested
In July 2010 Xiaoxita Police Station, the 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division in Yiling District, Yichang City together with Donghu Community Committee in Xiaoxita came to arrest Ms. Zu Xuezhen. She is currently detained at the Yiling District Detention Center.
Ms. Zu is fifty years old and lives at the Yiling District, Yichang City. In 2008 because she told people the facts about Falun Gong, the Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office in Yiling District held her in detention for one month.

5. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Several Falun Gong Practitioners Illegally Sentenced
On April 20, 2010, the Hengtai Court in Zibo City illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Chen Youtian and Mr. Xia Zhenbin who were in their fifties and from Taihe Township, Zicuan District, Zibo City. Mr. Chen was sentenced to eight years and Mr. Xia to four years. They were sent to Jinan Prison in Shandong Province in July.
Also on April 20, one practitioner from Heiwang Town in Zicuan District was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and another practitioner who was in his sixties and from Zhangzhuang Township in Zicuan District was sentenced to three years.
6. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Zhu Mingrong and Ms. Wang Shanzhu Sentenced to Six Years and Fifteen Months in Prison Respectively
7. [Jinzhou, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Falun Gong Practitioner Zhao Yunpeng
A security guard reported Mr. Zhao Yunpeng to police while he was distributing Falun Gong DVDs in a market at 7:00 a.m. on August 1. Police took him to the police station. Police then went to his home and searched it. They confiscated a computer, a DVD writer and DVDs. Mr. Zhao was locked in an iron cage with handcuffs. He is currently being held at the Jinzhou Detention Center.

8. [Chengdu, Sichuan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Xiong Chenghua and Others Arrested
Chengdu Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xiong Chenghua is in his sixties. Officers from the Funan New District Police Station arrested him when he was taking a break in a park at Shuangshun Road Funan New District, Chengdu City. His home was searched. He is currently being detained at the Pi County Detention Center.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Guifang from Funan New District, Chengdu was arrested on July 21 when she was telling people the facts of Falun Gong at the crossroad of Zhanqi Road and was sent to the Funan Police Station.

9. [Honghezhou, Yunnan Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Couple Liu Yan and Li Ming
Forty-six-year-old Ms. Liu Yan is an employee of Honghezhou Water Conservancy Bureau. On July 3, 2010, she was arrested by police from Mengzi County and Kaiyuan City. Between 2006 and 2008 she had already been sentenced to two years of forced labor and her home was repeatedly searched.
Forty-seven-year-old Mr. Li Ming works at the teaching and research office of Honghezhou Education Bureau. On July 3, 2010, he was arrested by police from Mengzi County.

10. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Information on the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner He Cao and Others
On the morning of July 28, 2010, the following practitioners from Tiangong Township, Xinji City were arrested: Mr. He Cao from Donglangyue Village, Ms. Zhu Xiujuan from Xilangyue Villiage, Ms. Jiang Xiaoling from Beipang Village, and Ms. Wang Xiaotuan from Beilucai. They are currently detained at the Xinji Detention Center.

11. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Xu Liling and Zhang Meiyun Sent to a Forced Labor Camp in Sanshui
On the morning of June 22, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Liling was arrested. She was held in Fuda Detention Center in Mei County. On July 16 Xu Liling was arrested and sent to the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was sentenced to one year and nine months of forced labor.
On the evening of June 29, 2010 Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Meiyun from Jiangnan, Meizhoucheng District was arrested and sent to the Jiangnan Police Station. She was then transferred to be held in the Qinhuang Detention Center in Meizhou City. She is currently being detained at the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
12. [Tianjin] Falun Gong Practitioner Wei Yuwen Arrested and Sent to Zhaojiadi Detention Center
Ten officers from the Hangzhoudao Police Station and the 610 Office in Tanggu District arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wei Yuwen from Tanggu District Tianjin at 9:00 a.m. on July 30, 2010, and took him to the Hangzhoudao Police Station. The next day he was transferred to the Zhaojiadi Detention Center. Police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, a printer, Dafa books and materials.
13. [Xinbin Town, Liaoning Province] Officers from Wangqingmen Police Station Arrest Falun Gong Practitioner Yao Guangxiu
Police from Wangqingmen Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yao Gauangxiu and Ms. Liu Lixin from Xinbin Town while they were telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Wangqingmen, Xinbin Town on the evening of August 1, 2010. They are currently held at the Nangou Detention Center in Fushun.
14. [Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province] Officers from Dongjiao Police Station Arrest Falun Gong Practitioner Yan Pingjun
At about 9:00 a.m. on August 2, 2010, officers from Dongjia Police Station in Xinhua District, Shijiazhuang arrested Ms. Yan Pingjun and ransacked her home. They confiscated his son's computer, all Dafa books, Master's photo and some notes upon which Falun Gong information was written.

15. [Hubei] Falun Gong Practitioner Zhu Shouqing Arrested and Held in a Brainwashing Center in Wuhan
Ms. Zhu Shouqing was working as a house maid in fellow practitioner Mr. Wang's home. At 11:00 a.m. on July 22, 2010, officials from the Xiantao 610 Office and Textile Industry Plant, with the help of Xiantao Science Committee, knocked open Mr. Wang's door. They arrested Ms. Zhu and sent her to a brainwashing center in Wuhan.

17. [Shahe City, Hebei Province] Zhang Liguo's Home Illegally Ransacked
Mr. Zhang Liguo's home at Xiaqu Village, Shahe City, was illegally ransacked on July 30, 2010. A computer, two printers and a DVD writer were taken away.
18. [Zhao County, Hebei] Zhang Erbo Detained at Shijiazhuang Brainwashing Center
On July 5, 2010, Li Dong, deputy director of Zhao County Public Security Bureau; Zhang Jinying, director of Xiezhuang Police Station; and Liu Jianbin, political instructor, arrested forty-two-year-old Mr. Zhang Erbo at his home at Nanzhongma Village, Zhao County. He is currently being held at Shijiazhuang Brainwashing Center.

19. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Gong Xianghui Arrested
At about 11:30 a.m. on August 1, 2010, officers from the Shuyuan Road Police Station in Tianxin District, Changsha City arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gong Xianghui while she was telling people the facts about Falun Gong in the area near Nanmenkou. She was sent to the Changsha City Detention Center and has since been held there.

Police from Nanhuan Police Station in Ronggui arrested fifty-two-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Shuxin from Yunfu at about noon on August 1, 2010, while he was distributing Falun Gong pamphlets at Ronggui, Shunde District, Foshan City. Police didn't give him any food to eat while he was detained. The police illegally withheld the driver's license of his son, Xu Zeheng.

On August 2, 2010, police from the Bin County Domestic Security Division arrested local Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Shumei, 69, Ms. Yao Xian, who is in her thirties, and another male practitioner while they were telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They are currently being detained at the Bin County Second Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Yujue from Taikang County was reported to the police while he was telling people the facts of Falun Gong on May 10, 2010. Police from Maozhuang Township Police Station arrested him and sent him to the Taikang County Domestic Security Division. He was then detained at the County Detention Center.
