(Clearwisdom.net) The 610 Office, the Political and Legislative Committee and the Public Security Bureau in Jilin City jointly created a brainwashing center on June 29, 2010, in the Welfare Institute, which is located in the 4th commune in Xiaoguang Village, Shahezi Township, Chuanying District, Jilin City. Falun Gong practitioners were recently illegally arrested and detained there in a three-story building. The guards attempted to brainwash the practitioners with the goal of forcing them to renounce their belief in Falun Dafa.
The detained practitioners included Ms. Li Liwen, Wang Xue, Ms. Liu Min, Ms. Zhang Lixin and her sister, Ms. Shi Jingyu, a senior lady whose name was unknown, and two practitioners from Panshi City. Practitioners Ms. Lu Shuzhen, Ms. Wang Qinglan, Qu Yanqing, Han Guirong, and Yu Danjiang were recently arrested and also detained there.
Many Practitioners Have Been Arrested in July and August
Officers from the Political and Legislative Committee in Chuanying District and the local police station in Huanxi Township went to Huanxi Township Central School around 9 a.m. on June 29, under the guise of performing a security check. They requested that a teacher from the Central School accompany them to Huniu Primary School, where Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Liwen worked as a teacher. A female officer from the Political and Legislative Committee grabbed Ms. Li's hand, saying she would like to talk to her about her work. Then a van came, with seven or eight plainclothes officers in it. They pushed Ms. Li into the van and took her straight to the brainwashing center, without even notifying the school principal. They claimed Ms. Li was arrested because she would not write the three statements and give up her belief in Falun Gong.
Practitioner Ms. Liu Min was arrested when she was working in a supermarket on June 30. Officers from Jilin Xida Police Station and staff from the sub district office in Desheng Street took her to the brainwashing center in Jilin.
Ms. Shi Jingyu was arrested on her way home. She has been persecuted many times for her belief in Falun Gong.
Five officers--Director Guo from Jiangnan Police Station, policeman Sun, another policeman in his 40s, and two female officers from Changjiang community, Jiangnan Street--drove to Ms. Lu Shuzhen's home at 5:30 p.m. on July 15. Ms. Lu is a 58-year-old practitioner. She was taken to the brainwashing center from her home. She had already been imprisoned for two years in a labor camp, from 2003 to 2005.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Qinglan, 61, is from the 4th Commune, Yaolingzi Village, Fengman District. She was working in the farm field when four officers from Huashanlu Police Station, Fengman District, pinned her down on the ground then forcefully carried her to the police car and took her to the brainwashing center in Jilin.
Another practitioner, Ms. Qu Yanqing, was working when several officers from the Jilin 610 Office, the local police station, and the sub district office came to her company and took her to the brainwashing center. In the brainwashing center, the officers threatened her, saying "You must sign the statement to give up your belief, and you will slander Falun Gong, otherwise no college will ever admit your son, and you will never be released, either."
Mr. Han Guirong in Xiaoguzijia, the Fengman District, was in a hospital when he, too, was taken away to the brainwashing center.
Practitioner Mr. Yu Danjiang lived on Baoshan Road in Jilin City. Several policemen had been monitoring him for quite some time and took him from his home to the brainwashing center around 6 p.m. on July 15.
Officers Fail to Arrest Chen Jihai
Practitioner Mr. Chen Jihai lived in Zhangjia Village, Erdao Township, Fengman District, Jilin City. A communist officer from Erdao Township government, accompanied by the village leader, went to Mr. Chen's home on July 19, 2010. They told his wife that if Chen went to a three-day class, he would not be bothered anymore. Mr. Chen's wife was very tired of the emotional stress caused by the Chinese communist regimes' persecution of Falun Gong. Unfortunately she believed the regime's lies and found Mr. Chen, telling him, "Come home. The head of the village will ensure your safety."
After Chen returned home, his wife called the village head. When Mr. Chen found out that the village head was reporting to the police station, he left home immediately. The police forced Chen's wife to help them to search for him the next day. Mr. Chen had to move from place to place to avoid being arrested and persecuted.
Torture in the Brainwashing Center
The practitioners who were taken to the brainwashing center were detained on the third floor of the welfare institute. Each practitioner was detained separately in a room; they were not allowed to talk to each other. Two inmates were assigned in the room to monitor each practitioner. The meals were brought to the room, and the practitioner was not allowed to leave the room. The practitioners were monitored 24 hours a day and were forced to undergo brainwashing to give up Falun Gong. The guards threatened practitioners that they would be sent to a labor camp or a mental hospital unless they gave up their belief in Falun Gong. The prison inmates worked two shifts a day, with two in each shift.
The principal of the welfare institute, who provided the facility, also worked for the municipal government in Jilin City. It was said that both the 610 Office of the Central Committee of the CCP, as well as the Jilin provincial 610 Office, took part in organizing the brainwashing center.
