(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Chang Xinqin, a teacher at the Pingdingshan Foreign Language School, has been a diligent practitioner since he started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, and has lived according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. His employers, colleagues and students hold him in high regard, even when the police and officers from the Domestic Security Division made inquiries about him at his school.

Mr. Chang was imprisoned for more than six years, and was placed under surveillance by the authorities at his school for more than a year. He was fired from his job when he was released from prison in 2009. The following are a few accounts of the persecution Mr. Chang was forced to endure.

Sun Shulin, Wang Yanling and other officers from the Domestic Security Division in the Ruzhou City Police Department broke into Mr. Chang's residence on July 21, 1999. They confiscated his Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. The head of the Ruzhou Political and Judiciary Committee then sent a reporter from the Ruzhou TV Station to harass him at his home. The police also harassed Mr. Chang by going to his school every week to threaten him. They even made harassing phone calls to him in the middle of the night.

Mr. Chang was arrested when he went to Beijing in April 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong. He was detained for nine months, and his wife was held for three months. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, printer, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. He was not allowed to teach at his school and was placed under surveillance for more than a year.

Since the staged self-immolation incident in Tiananmen Square, Sun Shulin and other officers from the Ruzhou Police Department's Domestic Security Division and reporters from a media outlet from Pingdingshan City often harassed Mr. Chang at his school and attempted to coerce him into slandering Falun Gong. Mr. Chang sternly refused.

Wang Yanwei, Sun Shulin and others from the Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Chang's home in May 2002, and confiscated Falun Gong books, a CD player, truth-clarification materials and other personal belongings. He was held in a detention center for more than four months, and then transferred to the Bailou Forced Labor Camp for approximately five months. During that time Mr. Chang was subjected to physical and mental abuse.

Under orders from the Rushan 610 Office, authorities at the Pingdingshan Foreign Language School took Mr. Chang to the Xingye Hotel Brainwashing Center in April 2004, where he was held for more than a week. Individuals responsible for this persecution were Xue Shunci, head of the local 610 Office; Li Aimin, school principal; and Tong Erzhao, deputy party secretary.

Officers Wang Yawei, Cheng Jianyang and Ma Zhanguang from the Ruzhou Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Chang at work in July 2004. They ransacked his and his mother-in-law's home and took Mr. Chang to the Ruzhou Detention Center. Officials from the Ruzhou Court sentenced Mr. Chang to five years in prison.

While Mr. Chang was being held at the Zhengzhou Prison, guards Feng Xiaohui, Li Zengwei, Zhang Zhiqiang, Liu Xiaoguang and Zhao Zhanmin, along with inmates Zhu Dengfeng, Li Jiming, Ma Weibo, Xing Yingzhi and Mao Shuyuan subjected Mr. Chang to verbal and physical abuse. Mr. Chang's family's frequent requests to visit him were denied.

Mr. Chang was released in July 2009, and has lived under difficult circumstances, with no job or wages to support him. He has made many requests to his employers to pay him his backdated salary, which was withheld for the six years that he was in prison, and to allow him to resume work. But, Tong Erzhao flatly refused to employ him. After repeated requests, the authorities at his school have reimbursed him with only 6,000 yuan, stating that this was a gesture as he was experiencing difficulties in his life.
