Denmark: Practitioners Protest the Persecution During Chinese Foreign Minister's Visit

October 27, 2011 |   By a practitioner in Denmark

(Clearwisdom.net) Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi visited Denmark October 19-20, 2011. Wherever the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials went, protesters from all walks of life followed them. The Danish mainstream media and public opinion have focused on China's human rights issues over the past few days. MPs from different political parties criticized the CCP's persecution of human rights when they were interviewed by the media.

During Yang Jiechi's two-day visit, Falun Gong practitioners from Denmark and Sweden held activities outside the Foreign Ministry building and the Prime Minister's office to raise awareness of and protest the CCP persecution, demanding that it be stopped. Practitioners held banners reading in different languages, “Falun Dafa is good,” “Stop persecuting Falun Gong,” and “Heaven will eliminate the CCP.” Many passersby expressed their support by making a thumbs-up gesture, or honking their car horns as they drove by.

Practitioner Ms. Wu from Denmark said that the CCP persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for 12 years. “They (the CCP) have caused the deaths of countless Falun Gong practitioners who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Such atrocities will incur heaven's vengeance,” she said.

Danish Foreign Minister Villy Sovndal brought up China's human rights issues during his talk with the Chinese in the Danish Foreign Ministry building on the evening of October 19. Following the meeting was a planned press conference co-hosted by the foreign ministers of the two countries, but Yang Jiechi didn't show up, claiming that he was “tired.” The real reason was that a reporter from New Tang Dynasty TV, an independent Chinese media that is brave enough to expose the CCP for what it is, would attend the press conference. The CCP official's unusual behavior puzzled the Danish mainstream media, and they interviewed the reporter from NTDTV to find out what was behind it.

On the morning of October 20, when Yang Jiechi visited the Danish Prime Minister, many Falun Gong practitioners held banners reading “Falun Dafa is good” outside the Prime Minister's office. The Danish media outlets took photos of practitioners' protest activity.

Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline for mind and body. The practice involves slow, gentle movements and meditation. It is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and free of charge. Its principles are based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The practice was first introduced by Master Li Hongzhi in China in 1992 and quickly spread by word of mouth throughout China and then beyond. Its beneficial effects in uplifting an individual's physical health, spiritual well-being, and moral character, not to mention its positive influence in the community and society as a whole, have been undeniable. Today, Falun Gong is practiced by over 100 million people worldwide. The main works of Falun Gong are available in over 30 languages.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Since the start of the persecution, practitioners throughout the world have been speaking out about the facts of Falun Gong and exposing the CCP's crimes in a tireless effort to end the persecution. The persecution has not only targeted Falun Gong practitioners' belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, but is also an attempt to destroy society's moral principles and spiritual values. As of today, more than 3400 practitioners have been verified to have died as a result of the persecution.
