(Clearwisdom.net) One day on my way home, I found some truth-clarifying materials laying unwrapped on the side of the road. I wondered, “Who did this? Why does he (or she) not know how to better handle these materials?” I thought that I needed to write an article and post it on the Internet to discuss this issue. I collected all the materials and took them home, re-wrapped them, and re-used them.
After a short while, I came across the same situation again. As soon as the idea of complaining to fellow practitioners arose, I looked inward, “Why do I see these things so often? Do I have the same problem?” I remembered that a while ago, I had also spread materials without wrapping them. My mindset at that time was, “If I have wrapping bags, I will use them. Otherwise, I will spread the materials without them.” I see now that my thoughts at that time were very irresponsible.
When the persecution of Falun Gong had just begun, I always spread informational materials with an attachment to fear. A few times, I just put them by the side of the road and went back home as soon as I completed the task. Although I have now let go of most of my attachments to fear and I wrap all of the materials, I am still not completely attentive to my tasks. For example, sometimes I forget to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil elements preventing sentient beings from understanding the truth about Falun Gong. Sometimes, I intentionally skip higher floors since I do not want to be tired.
Thinking of these things, I am shocked that I still have so many shortcomings! I now realize that seeing these things is a chance for me to cultivate better. We really cannot judge right or wrong from the surface of an incident and look only at the shortcomings of others. As cultivators, we should look within ourselves and find if we have similar shortcomings. If we do, then we must get rid of them. Strengthening our righteous thoughts and improving our xinxing are the most important things. I think that the fellow practitioner who put the material by the side of the road will also improve himself (or herself) after reading my article.
