This is indeed a solemn issue, and it is a key factor as to whether a Falun Gong cultivator can genuinely elevate his cultivation level while studying the Fa and return to his true self. We all know that we must continue to overcome everyday people's notions in our cultivation practice. Overcoming everyday people's notions is also an issue while studying the Fa.
Why would a sentence from Teacher open the Celestial Eye of a chid under the age of six? It is because children under six don't have notions. Many Falun Gong practitioners have spent a lot of time studying the Fa, yet have made slow progress and have been falling behind in the progress of the Fa-rectification. This may be because they study the Fa while hanging onto their notions. Teacher has repeatedly told us to study the Fa in tranquility. It would be great to be able to do so. It would not do to just study the Fa and expect our levels to elevate simply because Teacher has told us to study. It is most fundamental to transform our hearts. Otherwise, we would just be chanting the Fa without sufficient comprehension of the intentions and meanings of the Buddha Fa that Teacher has imparted. It is a reflection of neglecting the cultivation of the heart. It is not so different from those cultivators who hid in the forests and on the mountains and let their attachments subside with time.
Divine beings at higher realms can see that some cultivators still have many everyday people's notions and impure thoughts. Many practitioners come from very high levels and must keep ascending in order to return to their original levels. If we fail to let go of or become attached to any level we are currently at, we would be studying the Fa with “notions” at the present level and would not be able to progress. In other words, we should study the Fa with our hearts and not with our eyes.
