(Clearwisdom.net) One time when I was studying the Fa, three characters came into my mind – “not steadfast.” I enlightened that it must be a hint from Teacher and immediately looked inward. I have always thought that I have been strict with myself, and have done the three things well. Why am I not being steadfast in my cultivation? I have tried to look inward for several days.
I finally realized my weak point – when I studied the Fa, I only wanted to know the Fa principles but did not use them to guide my daily conduct. In fact, Teacher has taught us the Fa so that we can follow it. For example, Teacher talked about the many supernormal capabilities in the section “Martial Arts Qigong” in the book Zhuan Falun and “the Great Soul-Catching Method” in the section “On Healing.” Teacher also taught us the Fa about righteous thoughts and deeds. We should follow his words and treat all kinds of persecution in our cultivation, whether in the form of illness or illegal detainment, with righteous thoughts and deeds. When we suddenly encounter persecution, we should not treat it with a human heart. Instead we need to keep calm, use the supernormal capabilities to stop the persecution and disintegrate the illusion of illness created by the old forces. During the most severe persecution on July 20, 1999, one practitioner only had one thought when he went to Beijing – “no one can see me.” He then smoothly passed by many guards and went to Beijing to validate Dafa. Another practitioner developed a large hard swelling on his body. He immediately had one thought – I will use the supernormal capability given by Teacher – the Great Soul-Catching Method – to grasp the being that caused the illness. Three days later, his swelling disappeared. However, I did not come to realize the significance of this, and instead thought that those practitioners were diligent simply because they had good inborn quality and good enlightenment. I did not emerge from my human shell and human notions. Therefore, I stumbled in my cultivation and the old forces took advantage of my loopholes. As a result, I developed a severe illness. Although I overcame it with Teacher's protection, I still fell short on my understanding of the Fa.
Through studying the Fa and looking inward, I came to enlighten that being diligent should not only be manifested as cherishing the time. More importantly, we need to truly understand the Fa and use it to guide us.

When we achieve this, we have truly obtained the Fa. Only when we achieve this, can we effectively improve our xinxing while saving sentient beings.
