(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces. As per this report, 18 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhai Yalan Suffers Mental Breakdown As a Result of Abuse and Mistreatment in a Brainwashing Facility

Ms. Zhai Yalan from Hefei City was subjected to severe physical abuse and mistreatment in a brainwashing facility. She was forced to eat excrement, which caused her to suffer a mental breakdown.

2. [Shenze County, Hebei Province] Ms. Xiao Li Arrested

Ms. Xiao Li from Liuwangzhuang Village was arrested on the morning of April 30, 2011. Officers from the Liucun Township Police Station made the arrest and took her to the county detention center.

3. [Guan County, Shandong Province] A Practitioner Surnamed Fan Arrested; Other Information

A practitioner surnamed Fan from Luzhuang Village was arrested on April 26, 2011, for speaking with people about Falun Gong. Non-practitioner Ms. Ma Yue, an employee at the Guan County Electrical Company, was also arrested and detained because her mother, Ms. Zhang Dailing, is a Falun Gong practitioner. In addition, Ms. Ma Yue's older sister, non-practitioner Ms. Ma Hui, likewise an employee at the Guan County Electrical Company, was arrested and taken to Liaocheng for detention. Her child's computer was confiscated. Their mother, Ms. Zhang Dailing, was also summoned to the police station.

4. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] A Huge Amount of Money Extorted from Ms. Liu Guifang - belated information -

Officers from Pingdu Police Department and 610 Office agents went to Ms. Liu Guifang's home in Bajia Village, Cuijiaji Town, on May 14, 2008. They climbed over the wall and entered her home when no one was there and ransacked it. The confiscated items included an all-in-one PC, a large and a small paper cutter, 30 boxes of printer paper, staplers, 8,800 yuan in cash, Falun Gong books, a photo of Master Li, an MP3 player, and incense.

30,000 yuan was extorted from her family. 610 Office agent Liu Jie forced her son to pay another 30,000 yuan to secure the release of Ms. Liu, who was very frail. Her son had only 10,000 yuan on hand, but agent Liu Jie refused to release Ms. Liu until her son borrowed sufficient money. Ms. Liu's family paid a total of 68,800 yuan in extortion. They eventually got 5,000 yuan back.

5. [Chongqing] Mr. Chen Zhikun Arrested in October 2010; Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Chen Zhikun, 29, was a teacher at Liangping High School, in the Senior Section, in Liangping County but transferred to Mianyang High School in Sichuan Province in August 2010. He was arrested in October 2010 when he returned to Liangping on business. His whereabouts is unknown.

6. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] The Persecution of Mr. Chu Defu

Mr. Chu Defu from Qingyuan County has been held in Panjin Prison in Liaoning Province for years. We recently heard that imprisoned practitioners are subjected to intensified “transformation” sessions. Mr. Chu is on a hunger strike to resist.

7. [Inner Mongolia] Mr. Wang Yaheng Held in Custody

Mr. Wang Yaheng has been detained for several months. He stood trial on April 14, 2011. Hailar Domestic Security Division deputy head Zhang Xuzeng and others ordered a locksmith to open the door of Mr. Wang's home in his family's absence and searched it. These invaders returned to ransack his home on April 18.

8. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xihuan and Four Other Practitioners Held in the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center

Seven practitioners, employees from the Mudanjiang Agricultural and Reclamation Bureau Farm No. 855, and three practitioners from Beixing Farm, Peide Town, and Fuyuan Township spoke with people about Falun Gong in Peide Town the morning of January 24, 2011. Zheng Chengjin and four other officers from the Peide Town Police Station arrested the practitioners and took them to the Mishan Police Department. Domestic Security Division officers Li Gang and Yu Haiying interrogated them.

Three practitioners were able to escape the evening of January 26. Two were released the evening of February 1, due to the rescue efforts of their families and friends. Five practitioners were transferred to a detention center: Ms. Wang Yuying from Fuyuan Township, Ms. Zhang Xihuan, Ms. Sun Qilan and Ms. Zhao Li from Farm No. 855, and Ms. Hu Xiuyan from the Beixing Farm. All five were sent to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center on February 15 and will be subjected to forced labor for one to two years.

9. [Anlu, Hubei Province] Mr. Wu Xuebing and Other Practitioners Arrested and Sentenced to Imprisonment

Mr. Wu Xuebing, Ms. Zeng Hui, Mr. Yang Heping, and Mr. Xia Hai from Anlu City were arrested between August 28 and 31, 2010. Officers from Yantian Police Station, Fenggang Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, made the arrests. The practitioners were later transferred to the Dongguan City No.1 Detention Center. Dongguan No.3 Court officials issued verdicts on March 7, 2011: Mr. Xia Hai was given a nine-year prison term; Mr. Yang Heping, eight years and nine months; Mr. Wu Xuebing, eight years and six months; Ms. Zeng Hui, eight years and six months.

10. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Meihong, Ms. Ma Hengjin, and Ms. Wang Ruilian Arrested

Ms. Li Meihong, Ms. Ma Hengjin, and Ms. Wang Ruilian from Jinan City posted and distributed information about Falun Gong the evening of April 24, 2011. Plainclothes police officers impounded their battery-powered car, but the practitioners were able to escape. However, 610 Office agents arrested Ms. Li on April 26, and Ms. Ma and Ms. Wang on April 28. Their homes were ransacked. Confiscated items from Ms. Ma and Ms. Wang's homes included computers, notebook computers, ten printers, and other equipment.

11. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhou Zaitian Harassed

Doctor Mr. Zhou Zaitian has his own clinic. Sanhe City Health Bureau officials cancelled his license because he distributed information about Falun Gong. He was later arrested. Dr. Zhou continued running his clinic after his release. The health bureau staff harassed Dr. Zhou for not having a license.

12. [Shanghai] Additional Information Regarding Ms. Gu Baoqun's Arrest and Being Held in the Changning District Detention Center

Ms. Gu Baoqun, about 50 years old, lives in Guangyao Village, Caolu Town, the New Pudong District. Local Domestic Security Division agents and those from the 610 Office entered her home after prying the lock open on March 20, 2011. They immediately took her to the Changning District Detention Center. They also confiscated a computer, printer, and Falun Gong informational materials.

Ms. Gu was previously detained and incarcerated in brainwashing facilities many times for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing. She was often harassed at home, and her home was ransacked three times. New Pudong District Court officials sentenced her to six years in prison in 2002. Officers from the Gulu Police Station in the District arrested her on October 1, 2007. Ms. Gu was able to escape and became homeless.

13. [Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Ms. Xu Shufen

Ms. Xu Shufen, a teacher at the Daqing Petrochemical Company-affiliated No.1 Elementary School, was arrested. Also arrested was another practitioner from out of town. It happened the evening of April 24, 2011, as they spoke with three junior high school students about Falun Gong. An officer Wu from the Longfeng Police Department made the arrests and held them in the Changxi Detention Center. The two practitioners are on a persecution protest hunger strike.

17. [Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Practitioners in Gucheng Town Harassed

Zhao Aimin from the Sanjie Village committee, Gucheng Town, along with town government personnel, harassed Ms. Li Chunling when she was shopping at Gucheng Market on April 19, 2011. They demanded to know if Ms. Li still practiced Falun Gong.

Yang Jincai from the Sanjie Village committee and Yang Weidong from the town government harassed Mr. Wang Bin on April 20, 2011.

18. [Wendeng, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Zongquan Officially Arrested

Mr. Yang Zongquan from Lingdong Village, Wendengying Town, was arrested on March 30, 2011. Officers from the Jiaozhou 610 Office in Qingdao City and Wendeng City police made the arrest. Mr. Yang has been held in the Jiaozhou Detention Center every since. He has been officially arrested and faces sentencing.

19. [Kunming, Yunnan Province] Ms. He Guizhen, Ms. Liu Rongxian, and Ms. Li Huimin Arrested

Panlong District Procuratorate officially arrested Ms. He Guizhen, Ms. Liu Rongxian, and Ms. Li Huimin on April 26, 2011. Their families were informed on April 27 to go to the Panlong District Domestic Security Division to fetch documents regarding their arrests. Ms. He and Ms. Liu are currently in the Panlong District No.1 Detention Center.

Ms. He Guizhen, 68, now retired from the Yunnan Province Towel Plant, was held in the Panlong District No.1 Detention Center on March 15, 2000, and was subjected to constant harassment after her release.

20. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Xunrong Subjected to Forced Labor

Ms. Yu Xunrong was sent to a women's forced labor camp in March 2010 and remains there. Her husband is currently being held in the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp.
