(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhao from Chengyang District, Qingdao City was illegally arrested by officers from the Liuting Police Station while she clarified the facts about Falun Gong at the North Bus Station in Chengyang District on March 28, 2011. Her home was later ransacked by the police.

On March 31, 2011, Liuting Police Station personnel transferred Ms. Zhao to the Dashan Detention Center of Qingdao City and detained her there for 14 days. On April 8, Ms. Zhao’s husband went to the detention center to visit his wife, but officials refused to allow him to see her. He appealed to the Liuting Police Station, but officers ignored his request. One officer in his 20s told him, “We have followed her for quite a while and used equipment to monitor her from 300 meters away.”

Ms. Zhao was transferred back to the Liuting Police Station on the evening of April 13, 2011. The police notified her husband to come and pick her up, but she told him on the phone that the police wanted to extort money from them and asked him not to come. Therefore, he didn’t go to the police station.

On April 14, the police called Ms. Zhao’s husband again, and he ignored the call. After being unable to extort money from Ms. Zhao and her husband, Liuting Police Station officers sentenced her to one year of forced labor without any legal due process. Her family was not notified and only learned that she was detained in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province by making inquiries about her whereabouts to different officials and agencies.

Ms. Zhao had also been sentenced to four years of imprisonment in 2004 for her belief in Falun Gong.
