May 06, 2011 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Xiuying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Lingshan Town, Jimo City, Shandong Province was illegally arrested by officers from the Duanbolan Town Police Station when she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to people in an open market on April 17, 2011.

Ms. Zhang was not released until April 19.

Ms. Zhang had also been arrested on October 26, 2009, when a group of police officers from Duanbolan and Lingshan Towns pried her door open with an iron bar, broke in and ransacked her home. After the arrest, her health deteriorated to the extent that her life was in danger. Afraid that they might be held accountable for her death, the police released her.

Two Falun Gong practitioners have been killed in the persecution by officers from the Duanbilan Police Station since 1999.

Ms. Zhao Mingxiang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Pingdu City, Qingdao, Shandong Province, was arrested when she was distributing Falun Gong informational materials on December 21, 2003. She died as a result of persecution on December 30, 2003, at the age of 46.

Ms. Song Meiying was a 52-year-old retiree. She had lived in Fuyu County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province before she moved to the Guanlubu Village in Duanbolan Town, Jimo City, Shandong Province to take care of her school-aged child. On August 26, 2010, after she had gone out to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to people, her son received a call from the police station saying that his mother was now in the emergency room of a hospital. When he went to see her he was told by doctors that she was suffering from a brain hemorrhage caused by hypertension and was untreatable. They hastily told her family to take her home without treating her. Details about how Ms. Song was arrested and who took her to the hospital were unknown because the police station never told her family anything. Ms. Song died after she was taken home, leaving all details about the cause of her death unknown.
