(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Runhua has seen great improvement in both her character and her health since she took up the practice of Falun Gong.

When Ms. Li spoke to people about Falun Gong in Aksai Kazakh Autonomous County in Gansu Province in April 2007, she was illegally arrested by officers from Aksai County Police Station. She was detained for over six months at Hongliuwan Detention Center in Aksai County.

Zhang Shengzhi, Liu Jinxuan and Liu Shenghai from the Domestic Security Division in Dunhuang City took part in persecuting Ms. Li. Officials from Aksai Court sentenced her to three years in Gansu Women's Prison on October 22, 2007.

In the prison’s so-called “anti-cult section,” section head Zhu Hong and guard Xiao Jing tortured Ms. Li in a variety of ways. They also ordered inmates to torture her in an attempt to force her to renounce her belief. The guards forced her to repeatedly watch films slandering Falun Gong and denied her use of the restroom. They then forced her to sign a guarantee statement to renounce her belief. Under extreme torture and pressure, Ms. Li had high blood pressure and developed heart problems.

After Ms. Li was released, the local head of the CCP's Development and Reform Commission, Shang Wen, refused to pay her backdated salary and benefits because she had been imprisoned. He organized meetings in the municipal government, chaired by the Mayor of Dunhuang, Liu Yongge, and they reached a decision not to pay her. Ms. Li went to see Shang Wen several times to request her income and benefits be paid, but Shang refused to pay. Instead, he had her detained for a period of time and had police harass her afterwards.
