(Clearwisdom.net) The following are cases of Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in Beichuan County, Sichuan Province, between 2000 and 2009.

In August 2000, five practitioners, including Mr. Tan Wanquan, Ms. Jiang Jifang, Ms. Jiang Jirong, Mr. Qiu Zhengdi, and Ms. Deng Xiuqiong, watched Master Li Hongzhi's video lectures at Mr. Qiu Zhengdi's home. Mr. Tan's wife reported them to the police. The police department officers ransacked four practitioners' homes and detained Mr. Tan and Mr. Qiu for two weeks, Ms. Jiang Jifang for ten days, Ms. Jiang Jirong and Ms. Deng for five days. Mr. Qiu Zhengdi's salary was reduced five levels, Ms. Jiang Jirong's salary was reduced by two levels, and Ms. Jiang Jifang's salary was reduced by three levels and she was removed from her posts as vice president of the county political and consultative committee and chairperson for the Federation of Industry and Commerce.

In late December 2000, 14 practitioners from Beichuan County went to Beijing to appeal and were subsequently arrested. Ms. Teng Hongbin, Mr. Jia Degui, Mr. Mu Zhitai, and Ms. Xiao Tairong were arrested in Beijing and sent back and held in the Beichuan Detention Center. Ten other practitioners were arrested after they returned from Beijing. Mr. Qiu Zhengdi was given a three-and-a-half-year forced labor term, Mr. Tan Wanquan and Mr. Mu Zhitai were each given two years of forced labor, and Ms. Jiang Jifang was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Other than a student, the others were detained for a month and forced to pay 2,000 to 5,000 yuan in extortion.

The parties responsible for the persecution at that time were: Beichuan County Party head Liu Wenbang (currently works as the Party head in Tongren County), Political and Judiciary Committee head Liu Fahui (who died during an earthquake), police department head Li Zonglun (currently has been transferred to the Mianyang City Police Department), and Domestic Security Division officers Yin Wanjin, Liu Guo, Li Ping, and Chen Yi.

In May 2003, Ms. Teng Hongbin was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor for distributing information about Falun Gong. Mr. Tan Wanquan and Mr. Jia Degui were each giventwo years of forced labor in 2004 for distributing information about Falun Gong.

In 2005, eight practitioners from Mianyang were arrested in Beichuan. They were Zhang Chunbao, Feng Wei, Yin Huajie, Gao Yan, Yue Bin, Ming Zhu, Cui Xiaoping, and Xie Xingkai. The longest sentence imposed was eight years. Mr. Mu Zhitai was arrested at home and subsequently subjected to one year of forced labor.

Participating in the persecution at that time were: Zhao Qi, Beichuan County Party secretary, who has been transferred to Mianyang; Jiang Xi, political and judiciary committee head, who has been transferred to An County; Bu Fangfang, police department head, who has been transferred to Mianyang; Long Chengming, 610 Office head; and Pu Jianguo, Domestic Security Division officer.

Prior to the 2008 Earthquake, practitioners in An County, Jiangyou, Mianyang, and other regions went to Beichuan County numerous times to speak with people about Falun Gong and to distribute truth clarification information. Many of them were arrested and detained.

In August 2009, Ms. Jiang Jifang and Ms. Jiang Jirong were arrested as they distributed Falun Gong information in the Gaoxin District, Mianyang City. Ms. Jiang Jifang was given a one-year term, and Ms. Jiang Jirong was detained for a week. Participating in the persecution were Liu Xiaodong, Tang Xiaolong, and others from the Gaoxin District Domestic Security Division, and officers from the Mianyang City Domestic Security Division.

In September 2009, Ms. Teng Hongbin, in her 40s, was arrested, as she distributed informational materials at the Mianyang Railway Station. She was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison. Forty-year-old Ms. Liu Ping from Jiuyuan was sentenced to four years in prison, and Ms. Jiang Wenping from Yongxing Town, in her 40s, was sentenced to three years in prison. The trial was held covertly without informing the practitioners' families. The presiding judge was Wang Libing of the Fucheng District Court.
