(Clearwisdom.net) The Lake Ere Brainwashing Center is a heavily guarded compound containing a single four-story building. It is located about 300 meters from Lake Ere in the Yingjie area in the Yangjiang District of Ziyang City. Falun Gong practitioners from cities like Ziyang, Jianyang, Anyue, and Lezhi have been detained in this building.
Since March 2011, five practitioners have been arrested from Anyue, including Ms. Liu Guoping, a retired teacher; Mr. Liu Sisui; and others. Three were arrested in the Yanjiang District, one of which was Mr. Chen Bengao. Three more were arrested in Jianyang City, including Ms. Wei Guozhen and Mr. Zhang Suqing. They were all taken to Lake Ere Brainwashing Center.
Every practitioner who was taken to the brainwashing center was assigned unusual sleeping arrangements. Practitioners were assigned a bed sandwiched on either side by two other beds. The two other beds are assigned to personnel from the town government, community organizations, or from the practitioner's workplace. All the so-called “sandwich people” are required to register in the front office before entering and have to promise not to disclose their arrangements with the brainwashing center.
In 2010, the brainwashing center was primarily managed by Xiao Hui, a woman in her 40s from Longtai, under the direction of a heartless person known only as Wang X (full name unknown). Internal staff are teachers that have been recruited from various schools.
Towards the end of 2010, in an attempt to gain favor with the central government's 610 Office, the center produced a video showcasing those it had “transformed” in order to incite intolerance against Falun Gong, while at the same time spreading its lies and slander. Showing little remorse, Xiao Hui even had a VCD specially made in order to spread the video to other Falun Gong practitioners.
The Lake Ere Brainwashing Center not only pressures Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs, but also pressures them to reveal the names of other practitioners. This way, they have created a system that continually supplies new practitioners to arrest. Failure to comply with their demands brings punishment in the form of extreme sleep deprivation. They also attempt to sow discord among practitioners by claiming that such-and-such a practitioner has betrayed you, when in reality that practitioner never gave in to the persecution.
