(Clearwisdom.net) I was posting truth-clarification materials in my hometown with my parents during the early morning of May 13, 2002, when we ran into a police car. At the time, I was about 20-30 meters ahead of my father and had just crossed an alley, when a police car emerged out of the alley. The car drove toward my father. Several officers got out of the car and surrounded him. Suddenly, one officer shouted, “There is another one ahead! After him!” Then, someone shouted at me, “Freeze! Freeze!” I turned around and saw several policemen running after me, so I started to run. While running away, I thought, “I cannot run like this, they will catch me. I can't let them catch me.” So I begged Master for help, “Master, please help me!” When this thought emerged, unexpectedly my eyes closed and my body gently fell to the ground. When I opened my eyes again, I was lying face down on a bright street (I don’t know how I ran out of the darkness and ended up on that street). Four officers stood less than 20 meters away from me with flashlights in their hands. Two of the flashlights shone directly on me, but somehow, they couldn't see me. At that moment, I wasn't afraid and just looked at them curiously, like a child looking at something he has never seen before. I heard them saying, “He can't run that far, he must be around here.” They dispersed after talking a little bit more. I continued to lay there with no thought of moving, as if it was a very comfortable place. After three minutes passed, the police gathered at the same spot again and shone their flashlights everywhere. They shone the flashlights on me, but still couldn't see me, so they left.

Five minutes later, I got up. I remembered that they had mentioned my name, so I knew that I couldn't go back home. I decided to go to another city. I stopped a taxi on the street and asked the driver to take me to another city. Since there were toll stations on major roads, the driver suggested that we take the small roads to save money. I didn't think anything of it as long as we got to the other city, so I agreed.

My hometown and the place I wanted to go are separated by a famous river in Northeast China. We thus had to cross a bridge. When the water is high, the bridge is submerged and cars can't cross it. At the time, the upstream water reservoir was releasing water, so the top of the bridge was already submerged in water. The driver asked the watchman if the bridge was passable. The watchman said, “Yes, another taxi just crossed it.” However, when the taxi reached the middle of the bridge, the driver realized that the water was already very high. As a result, the taxi's engine stalled. The driver couldn’t restart the engine and said that water probably got into the exhaust pipe. When I moved my feet, I realized there was water inside the car. The taxi driver told me that there was a big tow truck parked next to the river and that we would have to wait for daylight.

I thought to myself, “I can't wait here. I must leave as soon as possible.” I asked Master to strengthen me and I began to recite the verses for sending righteous thoughts. I then asked the driver to start the engine. The car started and drove for a short distance before the engine died again. I again asked Master to strengthen me. The car started again, and this time it reached the other side of the bridge.

At that time, the persecution was severe since the Chinese Communist Party required the police to interrogate taxi drivers on a daily basis to see if they had given a ride to Falun Gong practitioners. If so, the driver was fined at least 2,000 yuan.

The taxi driver kept saying how miraculous it was, so I was worried that he would boast about it to other people and the police would find out. I didn't want that to happen to him, so I told him, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I was chased by the police because I was clarifying the truth. My Master has protected us.” He replied, “No wonder it was such a miracle. I know Falun Gong. My friend, Mr. Qi, practices Falun Gong. He even gave me a book before.”

When we reached my destination, he shook my hand and gave me his name and number. He told me that if I ever returned to my hometown, he would treat me to a meal. I later found my fellow practitioners and continued to walk the path of helping Master in Fa-rectification.

Recalling that situation, my thoughts at the time were very simple. I didn't have fear or other worries. My belief in Master and Dafa was solid. I was thus able to remember to ask Master for help at critical moments. With Master’s compassion and help, I was safe and escaped danger. I can't express my gratitude towards Master. I can only do my best to cultivate myself and do the three things well.
