(Clearwisdom.net) On August 6, 2011, Ms .Zhou Yuxi, from Changsha City in Hunan Province, was illegally arrested by officers from the Zhonglupu Police Station, while she was handing out Falun Gong brochures in Xiangtan County. She was first detained in the Qilipu Detention Center in the County, then transferred to a brainwashing center in Laodaohe Town, Kaifu District, Changsha City.

Ms. Zhou Yixi, also previously known as Zhou Shuai, turned 31 years old this year. She was formerly a teacher in Shenghang Tianju Kindergarten. Ms. Zhou began practicing Falun Gong when she was 19. In 2001 and 2002, she had been brainwashed in a forced labor camp, and subsequently gave up the practice for nearly eight years. In 2010, she began practicing again. Unexpectedly, she was persecuted again just one year after she resumed practicing Falun Gong.

According to inside sources, practitioners who were previously detained in the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center were viciously beaten and abused. Some were subsequently taken to forced labor camps and mental institutions. Ms. Zhou is now being held in a brainwashing center. Her friends and family are extremely worried about her situation.

Brutally “Transformed”

Ms. Zhou was monitored by the police in July 1999. In October 2000, she was fired from her job. On New Year's Day 2001, she went to appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing and was brutally beaten. She went on a hunger strike for nine days, and was subsequently returned to her hometown by officers from the Changsha Police Station and imprisoned in the Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou.

In 2001, hundreds of practitioners from Hunan Province were incarcerated in that labor camp. Seven wards were specifically set up by the labor camp authorities to maltreat practitioners. Every day, steadfast practitioners were brainwashed and forced to watch documentaries which slandered Falun Gong. Drug addicts in groups of two or three were ordered to keep a close watching on practitioners around the clock. There was someone watching even while practitioners took a bath or used the toilet.

In July 2002, authorities of the forced labor camp established a special unit to target steadfast practitioners. Special force officers, hard core convicts, and disciplinary officers were mobilized. Practitioners were isolated and locked up, one in each room, and monitored by several drug addicts. Ms. Zhou was the first to be sent to the special unit. From the moment she went in, she had to stand up and sit down continuously. Her hands were then shackled and she was made to stand with her back against a bed, supporting two or three small stools between her body and the bed. She had to stand like this for long periods of time, ensuring that the stools did not drop to the ground. Every practitioner had to wear a motorcycle helmet, was handcuffed, brainwashed, beaten and kicked, shocked with electric batons, put in solitary confinement, stung by mosquitoes, and subjected to other forms of torture, continuously, day and night.

After days upon days of brainwashing, together with the physical and mental torture, Ms. Zhou gave up her practice against her will. After her release, she was very regretful of her renunciation. Eight years after she had been persecuted and mistreated, she decided to practice Falun Gong again.

When she started to practice Falun Gong again, Ms. Zhou's husband, Zhang Yonglin, who is an official in the political department of a bank, tried to stop her because he had been deceived by the communist regime propaganda. He hit her, pulled her hair, and knocked her head against the wall. He even once tried to stab her with a knife. Ms. Zhou remained steadfast and did not retaliate. She treated her husband with compassion and clarified the facts to him.
