(Clearwisdom.net) Our local practitioners often disagree on the speed we should read the Fa during group study. Some think that only by reading slowly can the Fa be adequately absorbed; others think reading fast is more efficient and we can read more. Since both opinions sound reasonable, there's been no agreement.

Master said, “When Dafa disciples do things together, you should really cooperate well with each other.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital” in 2006) The Fa requires practitioners to think of others first, so on the matter of group Fa-study, we should require the same of ourselves. Master also said,

“When you encounter something, the best approach is not to charge forward and contend with others, push your way to the front, and rush forward to chase down the solution. Let go of your attachment, take a step back, and then resolve it.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital” in 2006)

Master also said,

“The purpose of studying the Fa is to have you understand. Understanding the Fa is the most important. When reading the Fa, you should know the meaning of the words you are reading. At the very least, you should understand the surface meaning. If you say, “I forget what I just read,” don’t feel troubled. It’s not a problem. Just go ahead and read.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Canada” in 1999)

From here I realize that it is not important how fast or slow one reads the Fa. When we read the Fa together at our group Fa study, if fast readers can consider the group and slow down a bit, and slow readers can speed up a little, we will all read at the same pace. Whenever we reach this state, I can feel that the group is one body, and everyone is calm and at peace and there are no gaps.

Master said, “Raising your level in your practice of cultivation is first and foremost.” (“Lecture at the First Conference in North America” in 1998) I now realize that when there is a problem, the problem itself is not the most important thing; instead, letting go of self and putting effort into coordinating well to improve together is true cultivation.
