(Clearwisdom.net) Guards tried to force Falun Gong practitioners detained in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun, Jilin Province to renounce their belief. If they refused, guards would torture them with electric batons for a long time. Below are the details of two cases.

Ma Guirong Was Tortured with Electric Batons

On October 22, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Ma Guirong, 53, who lives in the Changchun Weather Bureau, was arrested by two policemen from the Luyuan District Police Station in Changchun when she put up posters about Falun Gong. They confiscated all the money she had in her pockets, which was six yuan. The next day, Ms. Ma was sent to the Luyuan District Police Station to be detained for a day. Later on, police went to her home to take away a bag of Falun Gong books and materials. She was then sent to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp and was detained in the second team of the fourth division.

Ms. Ma refused to write any statements to renounce Falun Gong, so guard Ding Xiaochun (in her 40s), and team leader Zhang Shuhua (in her 40s), took her into a small room, shocked her with electric batons and tried to force her to write the so-called “five statements.” Ms. Ma also refused to write any reports on her thoughts. So Ding then shocked her with electric batons frequently. This situation lasted for a month, with two or three episodes of shocking every day.

Torture: Shocking with Electric Batons

Once Ms. Ma did not cooperate with the guards when ordered to participate in morning aerobic exercises and cried 'Falun Dafa is good!', so Ding dragged her from the ground floor to the sixth floor. Several guards pushed Ma down and shocked her with electric batons underneath her clothes.

One time when Ms. Ma did not write any reports on her thoughts as was required, guards Ding and Wang handcuffed her in a room and shocked her with electric batons from each side. After an hour, Wang still said that they would shock her until the electric batons' batteries ran down. Afterward, Ms. Ma was punished by having to stand near the window for about 3 hours.

In the most serious episode, when the second and third teams united as one team, they tried to force Ms. Ma to write reports of her thoughts. She refused, so team leader Zhang then puched Ms. Ma's chest hard, and guards Wang and Ding shocked her with electric batons on both sides for about an hour. When Ms. Ma got back, she could not walk but lay down immediately. After that, she needed people to hold her when going downstairs for meals, or when she went to the restroom. Ding said Ms. Ma's non-compliance affected the other detainees at the forced labor camp and orders others to torture her.

Ding then put pressure on Ms. Ma's family, ordering her family members to persuade her to do what they wanted her to do. Ms. Ma was very weak by then, but Ding still hit her hard because she would not attend the morning exercise drills. Ma's term was extended for another 17 days. When she was released, guard Wang still said that they should wait for her to write a report about her thoughts. Ms. Ma had been persecuted for 17 months before her release.

Li Shulan Was Shocked with Electric Batons Many Times

In November 2000, four policemen from Xi'an Square Police Station in Changchun deceived Falun Gong practitioner Li Shulan from Xinzhu Garden Community into opening her door under the pretense of checking the electricity meter. Policemen then broke into her room to ransack it, arrested Li Shulan and took her to the police station to be detained for a night.

The next day, Li was sent to Tiebei Prison in Changhcun and persecuted there for a month. Then she was sent to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun.

Once she entered the forced labor camp, Ms. Li was forced by the administration officers to fill in forms and sign her name. Ms. Li refused, and the guards then slapped and kicked her. She was then sent to the fourth team to stand facing the wall for over two hours. At about 4 a.m., guards let those who had renounced Falun Gong try to force Ms. Li to write the “five statements” in turn with two in a group. Ms. Li refused and was not allowed to sleep for a night. The next day, she was berated and beaten again.

Ms. Li was then sent to the second guard in the second team. Guard Qiang Tongqin (about 30) asked Ms. Li to come to her office. When she refused, she then beat Ms. Li and interrogated her. Later on she was sent to the fourth guard.

The team leader Liu Lianying asked Ms. Li to come to her office. Once she entered the room, Liu hit her in the face with both hands. Ms. Li felt pain in her eyes, her left eye was full of blood, and she saw sparks. She could not see things clearly. Liu then brought out a baton and asked her to grab one end. After a while, seeing not much effect, Liu then forced Ms. Li to hold the electric batons with both hands. Liu then turned on two batons to shock her for half an hour. Ms. Li fainted. Later on she was helped to get onto a bed, and her body shook all over.

In May, Ms. Li was forced to stand during a holiday. After two days and a night, Jia Hongyan told her to go to a small dark warehouse and slapped her with a book about a dozen times. In the afternoon, Jia Hongyan shocked Ms. Li all over for four hours until it was time to be off duty. This shocking included all her fingers, toes, eyes, lips, private parts, etc. Ms. Li's neck and body were full of burnt and black spots, her lips were broken open.

At 6 a.m. the next morning, Ms. Li could not bear the torture. She hit her head against the heater. She was then forced to cover her eyes and was sent to a hospital. At that time, Ms. Li's eyes and face were all swollen, her head was stitched six times and then wrapped up. She felt her head was dripping water inside, and she could not see anything. Her mouth, fingers and toes were all numb. Jia Hongyan even forced Ms. Li to report why she would hit her head against the heater. Ms. Li was tortured both mentally and physically. Her body was tortured to disability, but Jia still forced her to work and made her carry bags weighing about 50 kg.

Ma. Li's thought report did not meet their requirements, so guard Yu Bo from the second guard, second team, (about 30), brought Ms. Li to her office, where she slapped and berated her. Ms. Li missed three meals and was very weak. She needed help when walking. In the evening, Liu brought Ms. Li to her room and shocked her with small electric batons. Liu threatened that if Ms. Li refused to eat, she would be shocked with big batons. After this shocking, Ms. Li's health got worse. She felt numb all over her body, from her fingers to toes. She even had spasms in her hands and feet, and the pain was difficult to bear. It got even harder for her to walk. In this condition, her term was even extended, which added up to another half a year.

On May 17, 2003, a guard forced Ms. Li to walk from the mail room to the gate. Ms. Li could not walk, but the guards did not allow her family to meet her inside. Her family members waited from morning to noon. Guards saw Ms. Li could not walk and then asked a policeman to help her. When Ms. Li got out of the forced labor camp, she was not allowed to get into the car of her family, but had to ask a driver from Tiexi Neighborhood Administration Office in Changchun, and Liu Guirong (female, about 50), director of the office, to drive her to the office.

Liu said Ms. Li refused to write the “five statements,” so she was fined 1,000 yuan. Liu even wrote a receipt and said whenever Ms. Li wrote the statements, she would return the money. Ms. Li then returned home. On so-called sensitive dates Xi'an Police Station would send policemen to harass and monitor her.
