(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of August 20, 2011, it suddenly started to hail in Wangqing County, Jilin Province. The violent storm moved in quickly and exceptionally large hailstones pounded down, covering the roads and roofs.

The next day local residents said that they'd never seen such a storm. The hailstones plowed to the sides of the roads still had not melted two days and nights after the storm. Several acres of crops still unharvested in the fields were ruined by the large hail.

Many elderly residents said that it was a sign of some huge injustice that had angered Heaven.

So what huge injustice had taken place in Wangqing County, a small, agricultural county in the mountains?

On August 12, 2011, Wangqing County Court planned to sentence Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Lijun to 9 to 10 years in prison, and requested permission from the state court.

Mr. Zheng Lijun is in his 40s. He was employed at Tianqiaoling Forestry Bureau. He lives in Sanhe Village in Wangqing County and makes a living growing mushrooms. Because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he has been arrested and detained several times. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor by Wangqing County Police Department and was tortured. After he was released, he was repeatedly harassed and arrested by Wangqing County Domestic Security Division and the police. In 2010, in order to avoid being arrested, Mr. Zheng had to become homeless and live in seclusion in Shixian Town. On March 4, 2011, he was arrested in the home of a fellow practitioner, Ms. Liu Xiaohua, in Shixian Town.

After Ms. Liu Xiaohua and Mr. Zheng were arrested and taken to Tumen City Police Department, they were shackled and deprived of sleep. The police took turns interrogating them for 24 hours. They hit Mr. Zheng's leg very hard with a pole. When Mr. Zheng fell down, they beat him. Ms. Liu was taken to Anshan Detention Center in Tumen City. Mr. Zheng was later transferred to Zhongan Detention Center in Wangqing County.

Mr. Zheng's son was in high school. When he tried to rescue his father, he was threatened and intimidated by the police and subjected to discrimination by other students.

Mr. Zheng's family was allowed to visit him after he was detained for over a month, but the visit was monitored by Wangqing County Domestic Security Division police. During the visit, his family saw that he was in very bad shape. He stumbled as he walked and sometimes retched.

Mr. Zheng's wife died after a car accident in 2006. His father was persecuted for practicing Falun Gong and died from cancer as a result of not being able to continue the practice. His 17-year-old son dropped out school after his dad was arrested.

Wangqing County Court and Wangqing County Police Department are located within the area where the hailstorm was the heaviest. Ten days after Mr. Zheng's trial, the violent, destructive hailstorm hit Wangqing County.

Wangqing County officials and police have been actively persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since the regime launched the persecution. During these last years, they held ten brainwashing sessions. Many practitioners were sentenced or persecuted to death. Now Mr. Zheng has been unlawfully sentenced to a heavy prison sentence. Many believe the unusually heavy hailstorm was a warning from Heaven.
