(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts delivered two successful performances at the Detroit Opera House on Saturday, January 28, 2012, as part of its five-show run in the state of Michigan. People from near and far flocked to the distinguished venue for the opportunity to learn about authentic Chinese culture and experience the beauty of divinely inspired tradition spanning five thousand years of civilization.

Attorney: “The show was fantastic!”

Bradley Cobb, an attorney, attended the Saturday evening performance with his wife.

“The show was fantastic!” he proclaimed after the performance. “The colors were brilliant, the dancers were perfection. It was a really good show, an excellent show. We both enjoyed it,” he added.

His wife enthusiastically agreed. “It was beautiful. Everything was just vibrant, and the dancers were just awesome,” she said.

“It’s well worth the money,” concluded Mr. Cobb. “You get so much from the show that you probably wouldn’t get at any other [performance].”

Professor: “It was an outstanding performance”

“It was an outstanding performance,” said Ernest Betts, a professor specializing in multicultural business programs at Michigan State University, who drove nearly 100 miles to attend the Saturday performance.

He especially appreciated the cultural and historical themes of the program, which he said “gave the audience a very good perspective of ancient China.” Transporting the audience through 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, Shen Yun presents beloved legends of ancient times, as well as courageous stories of modern day.

“It was very beautiful—the choreography, the precision of dancers,” said Mr. Betts, recognizing some of the traditional movements of martial arts in the dances and noting that all of the components of the production, including the orchestra and the backdrop, correlated seamlessly with one another.

“It was a very, very nice experience,” concluded Mr. Betts.

Hairstylist: “It was food for the soul”

Betsy Morris was left nearly speechless after Saturday’s matinee, deeply touched by the spirituality and beauty of the show. “It’s hard to actually come up with words” to describe the performance, she said. “I feel it was food for the soul—unbelievable!”

“It’s nothing I’ve ever seen before,” added Ms. Morris. “It’s a completely different realm of beauty than what I deal with on a daily basis.”

Especially moved by the music and the bel canto solos featured in the performance, she said, “Actually, it was the music and the singing that impinged me the most.” The songs “are communicating to you,” she noted. “[It’s] communication to you as a spiritual being, and if you are in tune with that, you can hear that and feel it.”

Christopher Michael Brown, a renewable energy consultant who accompanied Ms. Morris to the theater, shared her enthusiasm.

“It was gorgeous, excellent, five stars, perfect!” he exclaimed, adding that the technology of the digitally animated backdrop “was top-end.”

“I was very, very, very impressed. I will come back again—I look forward to it,” said Mr. Brown, adding that he plans to bring the rest of his family to the show next time.

Hotel Manager: “That kind of music can really transport you to another place”

Artemus Petty, operations manager of a large hotel chain, and his companion Maria Carp, executive assistant at a hospital, had been looking forward to seeing Shen Yun for some time and were glad they finally did on Saturday night.

“It’s a wonderful show,” said Mr. Petty. “It lived up to all of our expectations.”

“The costumes and the way they danced—everything was just beautiful,” agreed Ms. Carp.

In addition to being impressed with the dance and the choreography of the production, Mr. Petty noted that “the music was also very special.” Shen Yun Performing Arts Orchestra plays all-original compositions created specifically for each dance, uniquely blending Chinese instrumental solos with Western orchestration. “That kind of music can really transport you to another place, so it was wonderful to hear,” said Mr. Petty.

“It would be definitely something that they would have to see,” he said, planning to recommend Shen Yun to his family and friends. “It’s a must see!” agreed Ms. Carp.
