(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Mr. Shao Yanbo, a former student of Northwest Normal University, was put in prison by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials for eight years. He was released on December 7, 2011. However, the 610 Office in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, as well as the Huining County Domestic Security Division, sent staff to the prison, attempting to re-arrest him and take him to a brainwashing center for further persecution. Their plan failed.

Afterwards, Li Jihui, Party Secretary of Huining County and director of the Huining Police Department, ordered police officers from the Huining County Domestic Security Division and Dagou Police Station in Huining, government officials from Sifang Township in Huining, and the Party Secretary of Sifang Village in Sifang Township to go to Mr. Shao's home to look for him. They also set up hidden patrols to try to arrest him.

Mr. Shao was in his early twenties when he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in 1999. He was illegally detained for fifteen days by the Anning District Police Department, Lanzhou City. Soon after, his university forced him to take a leave of absence. He was arrested by Lanzhou police on December 7, 2003. Twelve other practitioners were arrested on that day, including Mr. He Yingguo, Ms. Wei Anyue, Mr. Hen Wenzhuo, Ms. Bai Jinyu, Mr. Zhao Xudong, Ms. Wang Ailing, Ms. Wang Shuhua, Ms. Chen Shuhua, Ms. Chen Jie, and Ms. Gao Lijin. Mr. Zhao Xudong, a former police officer of the Security Section of the Supply and Sales Company, Police Division of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company, was tortured during interrogation. His mother, Ms. Bai Jinyu, heard his cries of pain and couldn't stand his being tortured, so she jumped from a building the next day. Her right leg and ankle suffered compound fractures. Her hip also had two fractures. Mr. Zhao was tortured to death in Lanzhou Detention Center in February 2004.

The CCP sentenced these practitioners after detaining them for 16 months. Mr. Shao Yanbo was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was taken to the infamous Lanzhou Prison and tortured in the Third Division of the prison's Eleventh Division. Many times he was forced to stand or sit for the whole day, from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. His legs swelled up a lot after standing and his bottom was painful after sitting for too long. The inmates who were assigned by the guards to monitor Falun Gong practitioners were the most sinister. Whatever made them unhappy, they would take it out on and beat Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Shao's family also suffered a lot from his imprisonment. His father passed away in 2006 under the severe mental pressure. His mother lived by herself in misery.

On the day when Ms. Shao was released, several Falun Gong practitioners came to Lanzhou Prison to welcome him. They arrived at the prison gates at 7:00 a.m. The prison guard who came to work at 9:00 a.m. told them that according to a rule set by the CCP, the released person should be handed over to the local 610 Office. At 3:00 p.m., 610 Office agents arrived. Over twenty people from the prison, Gansu Political and Legal Committee, Gansu 610 Office, and Gansu Police Department threatened to detain him in a different location. They also started to ask the relationship between Ms. Shao and the visiting Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Shao refused to go with the CCP personnel. The visiting practitioners also refused to let them take him. They argued that even under the CCP's laws, Mr. Shao should obtain freedom on his release date, and should be able to go wherever he wanted to. The stalemate lasted until 8:00 p.m., when Mr. Shao was able to walk out of the gate of the prison. The local 610 Office agents insisted that Mr. Shao enter their car, but Mr. Shao refused. This commenced another two hours of stalemate. In the end, Mr. Shao left with the visiting Falun Gong practitioners.

Recently, Lanzhou Prison has colluded with the Gansu Political and Legal Committee, Gansu 610 Office, and Gansu Police Department to threaten, videotape, and follow local practitioners.
