(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Decheng, 66, is a practitioner from Gaizhou City in Liaoning Province. He has previously been sentenced twice due to his belief in Falun Gong, totaling 9 years. On February 24, 2012, officials at Gaizhou Court sentenced him to another 6 years in prison. When Mr. Li's family told the court to provide evidence for their decision, they were made to leave the court. Mr. Li later appealed.

Mr. Li's wife started practicing Falun Gong in July 1997, after a friend recommended it to her. She believed that Zhuan Falun teaches people the value of virtue. After witnessing the character improvements in his wife, Mr. Li also started practicing in October 1997 and immediately quit drinking alcohol. Before he began practicing, he suffered from lower back and severe stomach problems for many years. He almost lost the ability to work. These and other ailments completely disappeared soon after practicing. Mr. Li's eldest son also started to practice Falun Gong.

Sentenced to 6 years in prison

Mr. Li was reported to the authorities on the evening of October 12, 2011, by a villager who was deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) propaganda against Falun Gong, at Xiangou Village in Dongcheng District in Gaizhou. The head of village security Tai Shengyu reported this to the party secretary of Xiangou Village, Wang Kexin, who in turn called the Gaizhou Domestic Security Division. The security team leader of the domestic security, Mu Deqiang, and the head of Dongcheng police station Zhang Guanghai took officers to arrest Mr. Li. They did not show any formal documentation.

On October 13, 2011, Mr. Li was illegally arrested by Gaizhou police, and was then formally detained on October 25.

A trial was held for Mr. Li on the morning of December 21, 2011 at Gaizhou Court. The vice-president of the court, Chen Wei, served as the presiding judge. The deputy procurator, Zhou Juan, served as the prosecutor. Due to a lack of evidence, the judge told Mr. Li that he could return home. However, the police took him back to the detention center.

During the two months he was held in the detention center, Mr. Li filed seven complaint letters with regard to his detention and arrest. He handed the letters to the guards to have them delivered to the prosecutor. However, during the next trial, the judge said he never received them.

On February 24, 2012, Judge Chen Wei sentenced Mr. Li to 6 years in prison.
