(Minghui.org) The Oakland Chinatown Street Fair was held on August 23 and 24, 2014, and Falun Gong practitioners were on hand to introduce the practice to the public. With so many things to share with members of the community, practitioners set up a booth with posters displaying the health benefits of Falun Gong and other topics.

A gentleman named Wilbur, an orthopedist working in the San Francisco Bay Area, saw the booth as he walked by and signed a petition to end the persecution in China. “I have heard about this before,” he said, “that’s why I would like to help.”

Wilbur mentioned that he felt most in the community know already that Falun Gong is good, and that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has committed many vicious deeds including suppressing Falun Gong. He continued. “We cannot let such brutality continue. Please keep it up and let more people know about this. The suppression will come to an end for sure.”
Elka, a lady who also signed a petition, shared similar views, “I believe Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance will benefit everyone. Nobody, no government should oppose it, or mistreat practitioners for such a belief. You have my support.”
Locals and tourists alike sign petitions calling for an end to the persecution
Many Chinese people were also happy to see Falun Gong represented at the event. More than 70 Chinese people took the opportunity to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations on the spot, believing that this will bring them a brighter future.
One of them was Ning Li, a gentleman who asked a practitioner to help him quit the CCP on August 23. “I quit the CCP today, on my birthday, as I feel that doing so gives me a new life,” he said. “When it comes to right and wrong, everyone has to do his or her part to wipe out the vicious regime,” said Ning.
