(Minghui.org) Mr. Sun Jianyue and his mother Ms. Ma Cuixian from Tianjin were arrested on January 21 for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to a detention center. The mother was released on February 20, but the son is still detained.
The mother and son have been repeatedly persecuted since the onset of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
Mr. Sun, 15 years old at the time, went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000. He was arrested and tortured during interrogation by officers from the Daxin County Police Station. He was forced to stand for long periods. The police beat him with a rubber stick, kicked him, and poured water on him.
He was then transferred to the country detention center where he was brutally beaten.
In November 2007, Mr. Sun arrested again when he was reported for putting up Falun Gong informational posters. He was taken to a labor camp for one-and-a-half years where he was tortured. Sometimes he could not sleep because of the pain from the torture and had to sit on the ground for the entire night.
Mr. Sun Jianyue
Mr. Sun had several jobs before and was always praised by his employers. He worked at the cafeteria in Lutai Town No. 4 Middle School in 2009.
The local police found out from his family where he worked. They pressured the principal to dismiss him. His manager repeatedly asked the principal to reconsider, but to no avail. On the day he was dismissed, his manager and his wife wept and said they would never find such a good young man.
