(Minghui.org) Dr. Cao Shengjun has been detained for nine months for his belief in Falun Gong. After hiring a lawyer, his family received threats from the police.
Dr. Cao was arrested at home on the evening of June 19, 2014. Officers from Liangzhou District Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office confiscated over 32,000 yuan in cash, a laptop, and Falun Gong books.
Dr. Cao shouted “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” when he was taken against his will for a physical exam. His resistance was used as a charge against him.
The doctor's wife and son visited the police station several times to request his release and the return of their illegally seized cash, only to be lied to and threatened in response. After several months, there was still no progress in his case.
Mrs. Cao decided to hire Attorney Wang Guangqi from Beijing, after which the 10,000 yuan was returned to her. Wang asked to read the case record at Liangzhou District Court, but was told to wait for instructions from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee.
Police tried to trick Mrs. Cao into dismissing the lawyer and attempted to pressure the school into expelling her son.
Dr. Cao is in his 40s. He had recovered from a serious lung infection and regained his health after he started to practice Falun Gong.
