Thousands of Chinese Falun Gong practitioners filed law suits against Jiang in Mainland China since May 2015. For example, between June 19 and 25, 2015, 13,109 practitioners and their families filed complaints against Jiang at the two above named Chinese ministries.

At the rally in Los Angeles, the three practitioners suing Jiang spoke about their complaints. The allegations include torture, genocide, murder, extrajudicial killing, state-sanctioned organ harvesting and trafficking, rape, sexual abuse, forced labor, illegal arrest and detention, abuse of power, illegal deprivation of freedom of religion, theft and destruction of property.

Ms. Zhang, a resident in California, is originally from Hefei City, Anhui Province, China. He had been imprisoned for eight years.

He was arrested on August 21, 2001 for reporting on the Minghui website that two local practitioners died because of the persecution. He was interrogated around the clock for 14 days and tortured.

While in prison, guards forced him to attend a brainwashing session in 2003 and 2004. He was forced to watch video programs slandering Falun Gong for 16 hours each time.

His elder brother was also imprisoned two times for his belief in Falun Gong.

Ms. Li Shuying

Ms. Li is a 73-year-old retired teacher, originally from Beijing. She was detained many times, for a total of almost 6 years.

Three inmates were assigned to monitor her around the clock. They deprived her of sleep and forced her to sit on a “small stool” (a device of torture) for long hours.

After she was released, the area's officials continued to harass and monitor her and listened in on her telephone conversations. Her house was ransacked many times by police who confiscated two computers and Falun Gong books.

Her husband succumbed to the pressure and died at an early age.

Lawsuits to Raise Awareness

Professor Wu Yingnian speaks at the rally.

Professor Wu Yingnian, host of the rally, said that the three complaints were among the thousands of complaints filed against Jiang Zemin in the past month.

“The reality is that every Falun Gong practitioner and his or her family has experienced the persecution,” he said. “The importance of the lawsuits is more than pursuing justice as a victim. It also raises public awareness of Jiang's and the Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. It is meant to uphold social justice.”

Representative of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Youfu commented that the crimes listed in Falun Gong practitioners lawsuits were very small in number when compared to the number of crimes committed by Jiang.

“State-sanctioned organ harvesting and trafficking is a most extreme case of human rights violation. Even Hitler and his concentration camps are no match to the atrocities committed by Jiang.”

Mr. Li encouraged all victims of Jiang to overcome fear and file lawsuits against him.
