(Minghui.org) A Junan County resident was cooking lunch on December 9 when a group of officers broke in and arrested him.

Mr. Hou Xuezhang, 67, was targeted because he filed a criminal complaint in 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in his past arrests.

The police first came for Mr. Hou on May 11, 2016. They arrested him and planned to detain him for 10 days. His family firmly requested his release, and the police reluctantly let him go the same day.

The police showed up at Mr. Hou’s door two more times, on May 23 and May 25. Their attempts to arrest him failed since he was not in.

Mr. Hou and his wife lived away from home in the next few months to avoid arrests. They later returned home, but the police seized Mr. Hou on December 9 when he was home alone.

His family returned home that day to see water running and stove left on. They knew right away that their loved one must have been arrested again.

The police denied having arrested Mr. Hou. It took his family much effort to eventually find out that he was being held at Junan County Detention Center.

Background Information

Jiang Zemin, as head of the CCP, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief, and even killed for their organs. Jiang is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides the police and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's policy regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising this right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
