(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Han Xuejiao was arrested on February 17, 2017, by officers from the Changning Police Department and Chengjiaqiao Police Station in Shanghai. They claimed that Ms. Han handed out Falun Gong informational materials.

Several officers from the Changning Police Department and neighborhood committee went to Ms. Han's home on the morning of February 17, 2017, but she wasn't there.

Two officers returned in the afternoon to find her at home. They took a photo of her residential identification card, and left.

When Ms. Han left home at around 5:00 p.m., she was arrested and taken to the Changning District Detention Center.

Police Have No Evidence

Ms. Han, 29, originally from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, is an accountant at a foreign company in Shanghai. Her family traveled to Shanghai in an attempt to get her released from the detention center.

Their attorney found out that the police could provide no evidence related to the arrest. The only thing they had was a blurry photo.

The police ransacked Ms. Han's rental apartment trying to find evidence to support her arrest. They harassed the landlord and sealed the apartment for several days. The police pressured the landlord to cancel her rental contract, and removed her belongings from the apartment.

The police also asked officials at her workplace if Ms. Han had handed out Falun Gong informational materials at work.

Ms. Han refused to cooperate with the police and went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention, beginning on the day she was taken to the detention center.

When Ms. Han's family asked the Changning District Domestic Security Division for her release, the police demanded that they sign a guarantee statement, renouncing Falun Gong. The family refused.
