(Minghui.org) A resident of Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner was arrested on July 27, 2017 for his persistent efforts in seeking justice for Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

This is not the first time that Mr. Li Jiucheng, 54, has been targeted for his faith. Prior to his latest arrest, he had been arrested six times and given prison terms twice for a total of 9 years.

Six Prior Arrests

Mr. Li was first arrested on March 30, 2001 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He managed to escape, but was recaptured on December 28, 2002. Police body searched him and confiscated 2,580 yuan, 2 cell phones, and 1 copy of Zhuan Falun (the main text of Falun Gong). He went on a hunger strike in protest and was brutally force-fed and beaten. He was later sentenced to 4 years in prison by judge Xu Changlin.

Not long after he was released from prison, Mr. Li was arrested again on March 27, 2006. He was detained for 15 days and fined 1,000 yuan.

Mr. Li was visiting his mother on January 16, 2007 when police broke in and arrested him. They confiscated all the cash he had with him, totaling 1,060 yuan. He was interrogated with torture at the local police station before being moved to a brainwashing center. Because he refused to renounce his faith, the brainwashing center guards whipped him with branches and chained him to a bed for extended periods of time. They also had him stand outside in the cold for hours on end. Unable to shake his faith, they sent him to a detention center.

Judge Guo Changsuo later sentenced him to 5 years and ordered him admitted to Baoanzhao Prison, where he served his first term, on October 19, 2007.

Mr. Li was arrested on April 9, 2014 and detained for 15 days. Police confiscated 500 yuan and his motorcycle, which was later returned.

Mr. Li was riding a bus on June 2, 2014 when police stopped the bus and arrested him. They seized 2,400 yuan, a laptop, two printers, two USB drives, and a cartridge from him. He was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Li was visiting his mother on March 4, 2016 when police broke in and arrested him. They confiscated more than 140 copies of Falun Gong books that he had stored in his mother’s house. They also seized a computer that belonged to his nephew, who later got the machine back. Mr. Li was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Li’s seventh arrest took place on January 27, 2017, when he was seized together with Wang Daicai, Lu Huichang, Li Jiulong, Kang Lijing, and Ao Ronghua. His home was ransacked in the process.
