Photo Report: SOS! Global RescueWalk Across US: David's Journey to the West-- September 18 to 22
September 18
After two days' rest, David once again resumed the SOS! Global RescueWalk
Across the United States. We first drove him to his point of departure. David
said that even though he had walked part of the route, it did not count because
he had taken a car in order to catch a press conference. So he returned to where he stopped
last time making sure to finish the whole route, step by step. What dedication!
He sat for a moment under a tree and sent out righteous thoughts, then firmly
stepped out again on his journey to the west.
There was bright sunshine, on him and on the road ahead.
Every step, so steady, so strong. Every step forward is one step closer to
Beijing.
He walked while listening to Master Li's lectures. His steps were confident.
Yesterday a practitioner told him the story of Journey to the West. He knew that
along the journey there would be tests, like the interference he had had these
past two days. Today these all seemed so trivial. The cars passed him in a
flash, as he walked alone. But he is not lonely. He truly feels that Buddhas are
with him. He is so thankful to Teacher. Every day he sends out righteous mind
many times.
In the evening he knocked on the door of a church. It was closed so he
decided to sleep on the grass outside.
It was so quiet. After meditating, he took up Zhuan Falun.
"I am the luckiest man on earth," he said.
The night was deep. The sounds of the tree leaves and the chirping of insects
accompanied him to a dream.
September 19
It was indeed very hot, especially during noontime. He felt his head was
heavy, his gait was staggering. He forbore the pain. He really felt the pain
both physically and mentally. After a while, he felt his head cleared up as if
something was taken away. Everyday it repeated several times. In the afternoon
he reached a small town and had a big meal. He was so hungry.
In the evening he went to a Chinese restaurant. He firmly believes that he
was a Chinese in the previous life. He has a wish to go to many Chinese
restaurants during his journey to clarify the truth to Chinese people, because
many Chinese people's minds contain much negative information because of the
slandering propaganda.
He remembered how he attained Dafa. It was an evening in a park. He met a
Chinese gentleman. They talked for a while. That gentleman told him that there
is a Chinese Qigong that offers free teaching. Next day he went to the park and
learned the exercises. That gentleman had never been to that park. A message
told him go there. That was how they met.
It all seems incidental, but it is all prearranged. Thanks Master, for
arranging all of this.
Amherst is a small town. He will stop here. Today he walked 31 miles.
With the light from a church, he read Zhuan Falun.
It was raining this night.
September 21, "Going to China, telling everyone Falun Dafa is good: this
is my dream"
The rain was still falling, not intending to stop.
After finishing the exercises, he hit the road. "Tomorrow I need to get
up early so as to finish two sets of exercise," he told himself.
"Today I will be soaked," he said with humor.
Each time he met people passing by, he would pass out Dafa information and
feel so happy for them from the bottom of his heart.
Here so many people have never heard of Dafa.
He had a brief stop and sent out righteous thoughts.
His feet were hurting. Every step was so painful.
"It is just eliminating some karma," he said to himself.
Finally he reached Lynchburg in the afternoon. He went to the City Hall and found
the secretary. "The girl was very kind. I told her about Dafa, the
persecution in China as well our SOS! Global RescueWalk. I also handed her a
stack of information and asked her to give them to the mayor. She accepted. I
also wrote a letter to the mayor." Happiness filled his face. As a
cultivator, bringing happiness to others makes him happy.
In the evening he stopped again at a church.
Today he got an extra reward. He could read the first paragraph of "Lun
Yu" [introduction to Zhuan Falun] in Chinese.
"Since I first started cultivating, I have had a dream that someday I
will tour China. I will talk to people there and tell them that Dafa is good.
This is my dream."
May your dream come true.
September 21: A Chance Meeting
This morning he was very happy. He got up at 5:30 and did a full set of
exercises.
Sliding into wet shoes, he started out again. He did not have lunch until
3pm. Tina from North Carolina brought him homemade pies. They shared
experiences, just like old friends.
Tina walked with him. This time he found it hard to catch up with her.
"Looks like I need to run to catch you." He said. "You have
walked 18 miles today. Also you have blisters on your feet." Tina said
softly.
In the evening they stopped at a public parking lot and began studying Fa.
A man emerged, "What are you reading? You do not mind my curiosity,
right?" he asked.
The practitioners answered, "We don't mind. You are welcome to join
us"
The wife also came out, " You are from DC. Could you tell me what you
are doing?" "We are reading Zhuan Falun. It is the best book we
have ever read. It teaches people Zhen-Shan-Ren."
"Could I buy one?" the lady asked.
-----
September 22: Every step we take is mighty power.
Today he was very happy. First the people see him off and then people welcome
him.
The people seeing him off were practitioners from Virginia. The people
welcoming him were practitioners from North Carolina.
They walked with him. The feet of Miss Aidong from DC were bleeding after
half a day. For the practitioners persecuted in China, practitioners are willing
to bear any hardships. Practitioners gain more understanding of his difficulty.
Indeed, every step he takes is mighty power. No matter what kind of interference
from outside arises, with forbearance inside, he firmly walks on.
They shared their ideas while walking. Their footsteps felt lighter. DC
practitioners brought him a banner. He put it on his clothes. Everywhere he
goes, he brings Zhen-Shan-Ren with him.
Today, they finally stayed in a hotel, had a warm bath, washed their clothes and
soundly slept.
