158 Female Dafa Practitioners in Wanjia Labor Camp Hold a Memorial Ceremony for Fellow Practitioners Tortured to Death

(Clearwisdom.net) September 29, 2001 marked the 100th day after Falun Dafa practitioners Zhao Yayun, Zhang Yulan and Li Xiuqin were tortured to death for safeguarding the Fa. All 158 Dafa practitioners illegally detained in Team 7 of Wanjia Labor Camp, except for the eleven practitioners held in solitary confinement after emergency treatment, held a memorial ceremony for all the Dafa practitioners who had lost their lives while safeguarding Dafa. The memorial speech was given at 7:05 a.m. With white flowers pinned to their chests and some pressing their palms together, the Dafa practitioners observed nine minutes of silence. Then, for five minutes they recited the verse that Master taught us to eradicate the evil: "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated."

The memorial speech contained these words: "All Dafa practitioners who have been tortured to death, you have paved the way for us with your own physical bodies. Your blood has not been shed in vain, and your stories will be spread through the ages. You have written a new chapter of history. You have sacrificed your lives courageously to safeguard the Fa, thereby freeing other Dafa practitioners from the ongoing brutal persecution. Let us observe nine minutes of silence to mourn for all the Dafa practitioners, including Zhao Yayun, Zhang Yulan and Li Xiuqin who have lost their lives for Dafa."

The ceremony was solemn. The doors of each cell were opened. Dafa practitioners were neatly dressed, with white flowers pinned on their chests, and they stood quietly. They shed tears as the memorial speech was given.

This memorial was held in our ward. We had planned collectively to hold it on the playground or in the dining hall, but because the imprisoned Dafa practitioners were deprived of their freedom, we had to fulfill our wish to mourn for the fellow practitioners in the restricted wards.

Throughout the whole day on September 29, some Dafa practitioners refused to eat in order to express their admiration for and to cherish the memory of their fellow practitioners who had lost their lives for Dafa.

On September 30, the fasting was still going on. All the Dafa practitioners in Team 7 refused to watch the performance celebrating the National Day.

The eleven Dafa practitioners who survived that torture have been held in solitary confinement in harsh conditions over the past 100 days. We are deeply concerned about them.
