Practitioners in Peru officially began their "SOS! Global RescueWalk" on September 28th. The walk will start in Lima, the capital, and finish in Ica in the south. The total distance for the walk is 300 km.

A press conference was called before the walkers' departure. One practitioner taking part in the walk said that their purpose was to tell the world, with their own experiences, that Falun Dafa is righteous. By conducting the walk, they were attracting the attention of the Peruvian government and its people to the critical situation of practitioners being persecuted in China; they were seeking their support. Additionally, they were urging the Chinese government to stop persecuting Falun Gong and its practitioners. After the conference, practitioners began their journey amidst the audiences' well wishes and farewells.

The next day, distributing truth-clarifying flyers en route, the practitioners walked for 30 km, reaching the 50 km point of the South Pan Am Highway. Several news agencies in Peru are following the story.
