An undetermined spectacular view appeared in the sky above the Yantai developmental area on October 10, 2001. According to an eyewitness, the scene lasted from 4:20 until 5 a.m. and gradually disappeared.

"Yantai Evening Post" reported on October 12, 2001 on the second page with the title of "An Undetermined Spectacle Appears in the Sky above the Yantai Developmental Area" with the subtitle of "More Than Ten Small Rings of Light Form a Spinning Corona." The following is edited from their report:

Jiang Lifeng, a private security officer witnessed the scene while he was on duty. He recalled that the spectacle first appeared in the southwest direction at a 30-degree horizontal angle. With his naked eye, he saw more than ten small rings of light 0.5 meter in diameter each which formed a big light circle that was about 5 meters in diameter. It was silver-white color yet not dazzling. There were many small rings of light in the periphery with a radiating arrangement. The spectacle repeatedly revolved, first clockwise and then counter-clockwise. When revolving counter-clockwise, the corona gradually expanded to 10 meters in diameter. When revolving clockwise, it shrank to only 2-3 meters in diameter. In the meantime, it migrated from west to north and to east until about 4:40 p.m. when it arrived at the north sky. It continued to revolve within a 20 meter area until about 5 p.m. when it finally vanished in the rain.

"The rotating Falun possesses the same nature as the universe and is its miniature. The Dharma Wheel of the Buddha School, the yin-yang of the Dao School, and everything in the Ten-Directional World are reflected in the Falun. The Falun offers salvation to the practitioner when it rotates inward (clockwise), since it absorbs a great amount of energy from the universe and transforms it into gong. The Falun offers salvation to others when rotating outward (counter-clockwise), as it releases energy that can save any being and rectify any abnormal condition; people near the practitioner benefit."
