(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Chen Ai'ping from Hanchuan City was illegally detained by the local "610 Office" [an office created by Jiang Zemin for the sole purpose of destroying Falun Gong. It has unlimited powers over all levels of society] for more than 3 months because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on July 22, 1999. In March 2000, the "610 Office" tried to arrest her again. Since then she has been forced to live in exile. In March of this year, the "610 Office" of Hanchuan City found out the name of the school her son was attending. They then deceived her son and obtained her address from him. She was later arrested in Wuhan City and was brought back to Hanchuan. She has been detained at Hanchuan's No. 1 Detention Center for more than 7 months, and has been on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention for more than 30 days. Reduced to a mere skeleton, she is now unable to walk, and her life is hanging on the verge of death. But the Hanshuan police department and the "610 Office "are still ignoring her condition.

Granny Zhang, over 70 years old, was arrested for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. She is now held at Hanchuan's No. 1 Detention Center. Her husband, who is almost 80 years old and suffers from senility, is stranded at home with no one to take care of him.

In May this year, Hanchuan "610 Office" held a brainwashing class. More than 30 practitioners were forced to attend the class and were not allowed to go home without writing a "guarantee" letter [a letter which states that the person will not practice Falun Gong any more]. Now over a dozen practitioners are illegally detained at Hanchuan's No. 2 Detention Center. They have been there for half a year now.
