Use righteous thoughts to suffocate the evil
In order to clarify the truth to more Chinese people, I selected a place where most local Chinese people gather together - Chinatown. It is not only the center for both old and new Chinese immigrants but also an inevitable place for the Chinese tourist groups to visit.
I put the display boards that have information on both sides on the roadside under a traffic light. As this is a road that people who get off the highway must take, people in all the passing vehicles can see the display boards. In the meantime, I also gave out truth-clarifying flyers and played Dafa music. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that there were some people who took photos or video recordings of me. Every time I saw them, I would take truth-clarifying materials and walk towards them. I calmly told them that they are welcome if they were tourists, but if they were hired by the Chinese embassy or if they work for the Chinese regime, their cameras would no longer function, and their photos and video recordings would be useless. I also gave truth-clarifying materials to them. From their expressions, I could clearly tell their identities.
After more than one month, the people who took photos or video recordings of me disappeared. One day, a woman in her 40's came. She called security twice and attempted to force me to take down the display boards. I clarified the truth to her and told her the principle that good is rewarded with good and evil meets with evil. She not only ignored what I told her, but also claimed that she was not afraid of receiving karmic retribution. She recklessly slandered Teacher and Dafa. After a while, many people gathered around to see what was happening. Two people even helped her to make trouble. Under this situation, I decided to use righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil. I sent forth righteous thoughts while moving the display boards to another place. After I settled down, she followed me and kept yelling at me, "Zhen-Shan-Ren [Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance], why don't you argue with me!" I simply looked her in the eye, because at that time Teacher had not yet taught us the verses for eliminating evil. Seeing that I was not responding, she said, "Today I will definitely take care of this matter to the end. I will certainly not let you hold this display." About two months later, I saw her quickly passing by my display boards with her head down. I noticed that her hair had turned gray, and she looked pale and aged. Ever since this incident, the people from the Chinese Embassy, including those hired by the embassy who rented a room in a building near the location where I set up the display boards in order to monitor me, do not dare to raise their heads to look at me.
Changes in the new and old overseas Chinese
Most Chinese people hold the view that domestic matters considered to be shameful should not be made public. This mentality has created certain obstacles to our truth clarifying effort. Some other Chinese people think that whatever happens in China is not important, and the most important thing is to not expose the bad things happening inside China to foreigners. Whoever exposes the shameful things is betraying China or making Chinese people lose face. This mentality keeps some Chinese people from understanding Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners. However, I have a firm belief that clarifying the truth and saving people is the most righteous thing to do in the world. As long as people still have righteous thoughts in their minds, I am sure that I can change their warped notions. In fact, since I started to hold the displays in April 2001, every day I see people who did not understand Falun Gong before changing their views. They not only accepted our truth-clarifying materials, but also took the initiative to sign their names to support us. Here are some examples.
An 85-year-old man with a cane passed by the display boards several times a day, looking very angry. One day, a fellow practitioner handed him a copy of truth-clarifying material. He furiously yelled, "Do you know that I have been living overseas for over 60 years? Before, we were called the sick men of East Asia. I have personally experienced what the new Chinese international status has brought to us. Today, I will not allow you to do such things here." After saying this, he left angrily.
Facing this kind of person, I would never hastily clarify the truth to them, I just smile and nod to them. If I have the opportunity, I would say a greeting to them. Several months later, I said to this old man, "Sir, please take a copy of the truth-clarifying material and have a look. It will do you good." He looked at me and took the material. The next day, as soon as he saw me, he said, "What other materials do you have? Please give me more." His attitude was completely changed. I said, "Sir, do you understand now?" He said, "I understand, I understand, now I understand everything." He also signed his name to support us. To express his apology and concern, he bought a cup of coffee for me. Now he has discarded his cane and looks much younger than before.
There is another Chinese person in his 30's who had just come here from China. When I gave him the truth-clarifying material for the first time, he said, "I do not believe it." He also refused to listen to my explanation. He passed by the display boards every day. Every time I saw him, I nodded or greeted him with a smile. Several months later, I said, "Please take a look at our truth-clarifying materials." He said to me with emotion, "It is not necessary. I believe it now. Your standing here every day is certainly not for telling lies. I indeed believe it. I totally believe it. I do not know Falun Gong very well, but I admire Falun Gong. There is not a single religion or organization in the world that is as cohesive as you. It makes people unselfish. I indeed admire Falun Gong."
One day in the early summer, one man who is about 40 years old asked me, "It was said that the U.S. government gives you 50 dollars every day for you to stand here?" I said, "Please look at my eyes. We cultivate 'Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance.' Nobody pays me even one cent to stand here. Moreover, all the truth-clarifying materials are printed at our practitioners' own expense, including myself, with our own hard-earned money. All the practitioners in the world are one body. The practitioners inside China can sacrifice their lives for Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, while overseas practitioners can relinquish everything for Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. The purpose of doing all of this is not for our own sake but to let people know the truth: Falun Gong is good and the few people in the Chinese government who persecute Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance are evil. This evil persecution will bring calamity to the people. If people know the truth, the evil will lose its place of existence, and people can thus avoid disasters. Whether you believe it or not, what I told you is true." He looked at me and said nothing. He then walked around the display boards. After he circled the display once, he came to me and said sincerely, "I admire Falun Gong." When he said that to me, I was clarifying the truth to other people because I thought that he had left already. He walked around the display boards three times, and he said each time, "I admire Falun Gong."
