Details of Persecution Against Dafa Practitioners in Hainan Province

The following are unlawful acts committed by the local authorities:

Dafa practitioner Xiao Qihang, male, was detained by personnel from Xiuying District Police Department in Haikou City for attempting to appeal in Beijing in October 2000. Later he was sent to a forced labor camp to serve a one-year sentence.

Female Dafa practitioner Liu Haifen is 27 years old. Officers from the police station at Hainan University removed her from home and despite the lack of evidence detained her without any legal procedures.

Dafa practitioner Chen Weihua, female, is being detained by Baisha Police Station for posting truth-clarifying banners.

Female Dafa practitioner Zhao Yijing is a teacher in Hainan Overseas Chinese Middle School. Because she went to Beijing to appeal in January 2001, she was detained at the No.2 Detention Center in Haikou City for at least five months. Her current status is unclear.

Dafa practitioner Wang Xiaoming, male, is a native of Qionghai City, Hainan Province. In March 2001 he was illegally detained at Xiuying No. 1 Detention Center in Haikou City.

Dafa practitioner Lin Meirong, female, over 40 years old, is a retired nurse in the Postal Building in Haikou City. After she went to Beijing to appeal in November 2000, the police sent her to a forced labor camp.

Dafa practitioner Shen Jiahao, male, over 20 years old, is a student at the Tropical Agriculture University in Hainan Province. Since October 2000, he has been detained at Nada No. 2 Detention Center of Zhanzhou City in Hainan Province. He was charged with distributing Dafa material.

Dafa practitioner Huang Yi, male, over 20 years old, is a student of the Tropical Agriculture University in Hainan Province. Since October 2000 he has been detained at Nada No. 2 Detention Center of Zhanzhou City in Hainan Province. He was also charged with distributing Dafa material.

Dafa practitioner Wu Dongxing, male, over 30 years old, is a retired soldier. At the end of 2000, police authorities from the Tropical Agriculture University in Hainan Province detained him for practicing Falun Gong.

Dafa practitioner Chen Haifang, female, over 40 years old, was detained at Hainan Province Female Forced Labor Camp after she went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. Because she didn't cooperate with the police, she was placed under extra security. During the first two months of her detention, she refused to wear a prison uniform. The guards confiscated all her personal clothing. As a result, she could only wear her underwear and couldn't meet anyone.

Dafa practitioner Wu Guohua, male, a native of Changliu of Haikou City, was detained after his visit to Beijing in October 2000.

Dafa practitioner Wang Xin, female, is a native of Chengmai, Hainan Province. She was arrested on June 12, 2001 at her home. She is currently detained in Xiuying No. 2 Detention Center of Haikou City.

Female Dafa practitioners Lu Liqiu, Deng Qiongfang, Wang Xiuxia and Wang Xiuzhen were detained at Xiuying No. 2 Detention Center for appealing and spreading Dafa material in October 2000. Their current status is unclear.

Dafa practitioners Lin Hongping (female), Pan Pujun (Native of Wanning, Hainan Province), and Cai Zecun (male, over 30 years old, a native of Chengmai of Hainan Province) were all detained at Xiuying No. 1 Detention Center.

Dafa practitioner Zhang Xiaotong, female, over 40 years old, a teacher of Hainan Art Institute, was detained at Xiuying No. 1 Detention Center for practicing Falun Gong. She was later released.

Dafa practitioner Gao Ninghua, male, 38, lives in Haikou City. He was arrested while appealing in Beijing in November 2000 and later detained at Hainan's Male Forced Labor Camp. He was sentenced to 3 years at the forced labor camp.

Dafa practitioner Gong Yuhua, female, is from Qionghai City in Hainan Province. She was arrested while distributing Dafa material in the evening on July 15, 2001. She was sent to Hainan Female Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term.

Dafa practitioner Chen Youliang, male, is from Qionghai City, Hainan Province.

Police arrested him while he was distributing Dafa materials on October 14, 2001. He is being illegally held at Qionghai City's Detention Center.

Dafa practitioner Yuan Caiping, female, over 30 years old, is from Xinjin Farm at Qiongzhong County, Hainan Province. In 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal with her 3-year-old daughter and was beaten and detained. After the Chinese New Year in 2001, she was again taken away from home and detained by the police for distributing Dafa material.

Dafa practitioner Huang Zhiguang, male, over 40 years old, is a teacher at Tongshi Farm's Teachers Institute. In July 2000 he was detained by Tongshi City (Now Wuzhishang City) police for going to Beijing. He was forced to quit his job and now works part time with a minimal wage of 300 Yuan ($35) a month. His wife was a teacher at the same school, and she was also forced to quit her job for practicing Falun Gong.
