Li Qun, female, 20-years old: In June 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong and was arrested. I was illegally detained in Shuangcheng Detention Center, and they extorted 1,500 Yuan (Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban laborer is about 500 Yuan) from me. Shuangcheng Detention Center officials forced me to pay 500 Yuan for meals. In January 2001, I went to Beijing again to appeal, and returned home safely. After the village officers heard this, they extorted 2,250 Yuan from me. On January 3, 2001, the Secretary of the village tricked me into going to the Town Street Office (on the fifth floor of Shuangcheng Qiulin Corporation). I was detained for no apparent reason, and had to sleep on the cement floor at night. They set up a jail secretly. More than 40 Dafa practitioners were detained together. We went on a hunger strike to demand our release on the grounds of our innocence. On the fourth day of our hunger strike, they force-fed us. Ten vile people pressed me on a bed, and firmly held my arms down. Then they held my head straight. One person pried open my mouth with a screwdriver, another one pinched my nose, and two other people poured milk into my mouth. At that moment, I felt like I was suffocating. One fellow practitioner felt nauseated for two or three days after being force-fed. I was once slapped about ten times by a so-called monitor because I practiced the exercises. Then I was tied to a chair for 20 hours. During my three-month detention, the town and village officials extorted money from my family members. They threatened, "If you don't pay the money, we'll take your grain." They also threatened that they would cut off the electricity (because we have a processing factory at home.) My family members were so scared. They had no choice but to give them the money. After I was detained in the Street Office for three months, they forcibly sent me to the brainwashing class. I was forced to be in the brainwashing class for one month. After I went on a hunger strike, I was released.

Tong Fengying, female, 56-years old: I went to Beijing three times to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong, and to validate Dafa. The policemen on Tiananmen arrested me when I went to Beijing the 3rd time. Then I was sent back and detained in Shuangcheng 2nd Detention Center. I was released nine days later. After going back home, my work unit refused to pay my salary. The Party Committee Secretary Wang Zhi wanted to fine me 3,000 Yuan, and I firmly refused to pay. In order to prevent me from going to Beijing to appeal, the work unit required that I get their approval for everything, even when I wanted to visit my relatives. What's more, they didn't allow my son to go to work, and forced him to ask me to write the "guarantee letter". Right after the Spring Festival, they forced me to go to the work unit everyday to attend the brainwashing class. Each section took turns watching me everyday. I took the opportunity to spread Dafa and clarify the truth to the employees. As a result, most of my colleagues thought that I was not wrong to practice Falun Gong, and that I tried to be a good person. They reported that to the leaders. Therefore, I was not illegally detained. After May 1st, I no longer followed the evil's arrangement, and have never been to the work unit again. I realized that as long as we have powerful righteous beliefs and thoughts, the old forces could do nothing!

Chen Yonglan, female, is 23-years old. On December 12, 2000, I went to Beijing with my younger sister to validate Dafa. In Beijing, on Tiananmen, the policemen arrested us. We were sent back to Shuangcheng Detention Center and were illegally detained for 17 days. Li Yueli, an official of Chaoyang Township, Shuangcheng City extorted 400 Yuan from us. On the ninth day after I returned home, Chaoyang Township Government officials illegally sent me to the Chaoyang Township Home for destitute elderly people and forced me to attend a brainwashing class. I went on a hunger strike to request my unconditional release. Four days later, I was released. Two days after I was sent back home, they sent me to the local home for destitute elderly people again and I was illegally detained for 62 days. During the detention, I went on a hunger strike for 7 days, and was force-fed twice through a tube inserted through my nose. They hired thugs and villains to brutally beat me and force me to give up cultivation. I didn't yield. Li Yueli, an official from Chaoyang Township extorted 5,600 Yuan from me, and illegally withheld the title to our house.

Tai Liang, male, 30-years old: In February 2000, I went to Beijing with my mother to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong, and validate Dafa. We demanded that they restore the reputation of Falun Dafa, and release all the illegally detained Dafa practitioners. My work unit escorted me back from the Tianjin Train Station, and then forced me to write a guarantee promising not to go to appeal again. Because I firmly believe in Dafa, the work unit dismissed me from public employment and expelled me from the Party. During this period of time, I appealed to the relevant departments many times, but they could not present any evidence or related materials that would condemn me. They said, "We just follow whatever we are told to do. What comes from the top is policy." The company manager Guo Xuequn also said, "I just dismissed you; there is no need for legal procedures." In December 2000, I went to Beijing once again to validate Dafa. On Tiananmen, the misguided policemen pushed me into a police car. They brutally beat me with rubber batons. Then I was recognized by the officials from the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing, and they escorted me back to Shuangcheng Detention Center. I was illegally detained. I went on a hunger strike to obtain my unconditional release. I was released after being detained 15 days. During this period of time, the director of my younger brother's work unit, the City Government Office, threatened him and fined him one-month's salary.

Wang Shuhua, female, 38-year old: On June 1st, 2000, I went to Beijing to validate Dafa. I was arrested in Shuangcheng Train Station, and was sent to Shuangcheng Detention Center, where I was illegally held. Zhao Xiuxia, an official from Chaoyang Township Government extorted 1,000 Yuan from me, and Shuangcheng Detention Center officials forced me to pay 500 Yuan for meals. On December 21, 2000, I went to Beijing once again to validate Dafa. I was arrested in Changchun Train Station, and was brutally beaten by the misguided police in Changchun Train Station Police Sub-station. After I was returned to my hometown, Liu Zhendong, an official from Chengle Village Government extorted 300 Yuan from me. On Feburary 19, 2001, I went to Beijing for the 3rd time to validate Dafa. In Tiananmen, the policemen pushed me into a police car, and they drove me to an out-of-the-way place late at night and then threw me out. During the Spring Festival of 2001, Chaoyang Township Government officials sent me to the local home for destitute elderly people and forced me to attend a brainwashing class. I didn't want this situation, so I held a hunger strike for ten days, and I was force-fed three times through a tube inserted into my nose. A misguided individual, Liu Xichen, forced me to stand facing a wall. He cursed me, and beat me. I was illegally detained for 22 more days. Li Yueli, an official from Chaoyang Township Government extorted 1,000 Yuan from me and would not allow me to have the title to my house.

Liu Yanfeng, male, is 32-years old. After July 22, 1999, officials from the Township Political and Judiciary Committee asked me to attend a brainwashing class. I refused. They extorted 200 Yuan from me. Then they forced me to attend a brainwashing class. During the illegal detention, they tried to force me to write statements promising to stop practicing Falun Dafa, but I didn't do it. Then, they beat me and threatened that they would send me to a forced labor camp. Li Yueli, an official from Chaoyang Township Government extorted 2,000 Yuan from me.

Zheng Guiru, female, is 39-years old. On December 19, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. After being arrested in Changtu Train Station, I was transferred to the Shuangcheng City Liaison Office in Beijing. I was later escorted back to Shuangcheng Detention Center where I was cursed. I was illegally detained 15 days. During the period of my illegal detainment, I went on a hunger strike 4 days. Then Li Yueli, an official from Chaoyang Township Government extorted 1,500 Yuan from me. At 8 p.m. in March 2000, Liu Xichen and Qu Demin from Chaoyang Township Government broke into my home. Four or five people grabbed me by the hair, then beat, kicked and pushed me into a car because I didn't write the guarantee [promising to give up cultivating Falun Dafa]. I was held in a cold room. After my husband, who worked in another place heard this, he came right away to ask for my release. They asked my husband to pay 500 Yuan ransom. Because he could not afford it, I was not released until he signed a note saying that he owed them 500 yuan.

Cheng Shaonian, male, 40-years old: On March 13, 2001, while teaching a class in school, I was forcibly taken to Chaoyang Township Home for destitute elderly people, and was illegally detained. The Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary, Li Yueli, instigated his followers Qu Demin and Liu Xichen to interrogate and torture me. On the night of March 14^th, Liu Xichen hit me violently on the neck with a plastic tube, causing me a shock momentarily. Li Yueli was also present. Because I refused to cooperate with them, they handcuffed me to some heating pipes for two nights and to the bed for 4 nights. Then Li Yueli ignored the law, and asked my family members to pay him 10,000 Yuan. When he couldn't get that, he extorted 3,000 Yuan from them without giving any receipt. In June 2000, Li Yueli extorted another 500 Yuan from my family.

Pu Chunru, female, is 56-years old. On January 6, 2000 of the Chinese Lunar calendar, Beijing Appeal Office officials escorted me to the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing. They took 170 Yuan from me, and then escorted me back to Shuangcheng Detention Center. I was illegally detained for 45 days. I was released after having been on a hunger strike 4 days. Shuangcheng Detention Center officials forced me to pay 850 Yuan prior to my release. On December 12, 2000, I went to Beijing once again to validate Dafa. In Tiananmen, I was arrested, beaten and kicked. They also slapped my face and slammed my head against the wall. They had to release me since they could not extract any information. On December 23, 2000, I was asked to come into the Town under the pretense that they wanted to talk with me. I was illegally held in Shuangcheng Qiulin Corporation. During the detention, the Town Secretary Yan Shanli, after drinking alcohol, physically abused Dafa practitioners repeatedly for no apparent reason. Once the practitioners said that they would continue to practice, he would slap their faces. After being detained for 4 months, they tried to get me to sign a pledge to give up practicing Falun Gong. I refused. Then I was tricked into attending a brainwashing class held in the Party School. Within one month, I was released unconditionally after I went on a hunger strike to protest the unjust situation.
