Last year, I was illegally sentenced to a labor camp because I appealed to the government in an effort to safeguard Dafa. In the labor camp, because my fellow practitioners and I did group study and practice, we were beaten and persecuted by criminal prisoners who were urged on by the disciplinary leaders. I went on a hunger strike three times to protest, and ended up each time being force-fed via tubing into my stomach. My mouth was pried open and injured when they once force-fed me with a spoon.
In October, a batch of so-called "transformation teams" came to the labor camp. Some practitioners in my room were "reformed" when their minds went astray. I felt so sad for them. Meanwhile, I felt enlightened that this is a fundamental test to see whether we believe firmly in Dafa. Teacher Li mentioned in Lecture Six of Zhuan Falun, "Whether it is a Buddha, a Tao, an immortal or a demon, they should not move your heart (Zhuan Falun)." With firm hearts, my fellow practitioners and I continued to study the Fa and practice the exercises so as to resist the evil persecution.
On January 1, 2001, a dozen practitioners did the exercises in a group. The disciplinary leader and two surveillance guards wanted to stop us. I told them earnestly, "Today, I will surely finish all five sets of exercises." Teacher Li told us in his speech at the Western US Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference, "No matter who assaults Dafa, it is a matter of humans battling gods, and the end result is obvious." As a result, I finished the five sets of exercises peacefully. I became enlightened to the concept that when you disapprove of the evil persecution in your mind, you are actually eradicating it. At that time, since we were isolated, we could not read Teacher's new articles.
The reason the evil force incarcerates us in the labor camp is to stop the Fa-rectification process. Since it targets the Fa, we definitely should not endure passively. Some fellow practitioners and I began a hunger strike and demanded freedom and a sentencing that we were "not guilty." The disciplinary leader talked to me after he saw that I was on a hunger strike, "Are you homesick? You see those 'reformed' people, they were set free and went home immediately." I understood that the evil wanted to exploit an advantage, and answered him firmly, "I will go home in an upright and dignified manner because I am innocent." The second day, several disciplinary leaders came and told me, "You should go and be force-fed." I answered, " I will no longer be force-fed. I demand my release and want my innocence affirmed." As a result, they did not force-feed me. I believed more firmly in the principle that I had enlightened to. Teacher Li mentioned in Lecture Nine, "Mind-Intent," of Zhuan Falun, "For a practitioner, one's mind-intent dictates supernormal abilities to do things." In this way, I kept refusing to co-operate with the persecution and tried to suffocate the evil, in an active way, in my mind. On the third morning, the director and several other disciplinary leaders suddenly broke into our room and asked us to stand up and count off. The other practitioners all stood up and counted off. I said, "I will not count off. We are not prisoners." The director saw me sitting unmoved, he jumped in front of me menacingly and shouted, "You should not think that we cannot bring you under control. Let's wait and see." We started to recite Lunyu and they went away immediately.
Teacher Li mentioned in "Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)," "If you are not afraid, the factor that will make you afraid will become non-existent. This is not to be self-imposed, but is achieved by calmly and truly letting go of it." I felt deeply enlightened to the principle of inter-generation and inter-inhibition told by Teacher Li. Later I saw through them and refused their force-feeding when they tried to use the excuse of "talking" with me and bringing me to the hospital to have an examination. During this period when the procurator talked to me twice, I used the opportunity to promote the Fa to him. I talked to him about the fact that Jiang Zemin's wilful act had resulted in thousands and thousands of Dafa practitioners' families being broken up, and husbands being isolated from wives and children. I asked him: "You are the law enforcement officials of this country. You should follow the Constitution to decide the case according to the law. We appealed peacefully according to the rights granted to us by the Constitution. What crime did we commit? This is truly a case of 'if you are out to condemn somebody, you can always trump up a charge.'" He kept silent for a while before he told me finally, "I will submit your petition."
During the sixth night of the hunger strike, I began to have the state of an ordinary person: I shivered all over my body, and breathed faintly. But my main consciousness was very clear. I understood that there was nothing wrong. At that point, several disciplinary leaders and doctors anxiously walked outside the door. I knew that the evil force was getting weaker and weaker. They felt frightened, already. On the morning of the eighth day, several disciplinary leaders broke into our room and dressed me quickly. One of them shouldered me on his back and walked off. I shouted, "You cannot persecute us this way" so that our fellow practitioners could hear. Some fellow practitioners and I were taken to the hospital and had medical examinations. I lay on the long bench by the hospital door and told the doctors and nurses passing by about my suffering. Some doctors stopped and looked at me sympathetically. At this time, I thought of what Teacher Li said in "Rationality," "The actions they are now adopting in the persecution of Dafa and its students are extremely wicked and shameful, and they fear these will be exposed." When the laboratory test results arrived, they showed that my health was seriously impaired. The evil force had to compromise, and I was taken back home to my family.
Now, I am joining in the great current of Fa-rectification with fellow practitioners. Those practitioners who are still imprisoned -- please step out of the jails and follow Teacher's Fa-rectification process. Our benevolent and great Teacher is waiting for us to step out of our human side. Our shared solemn promise "Making a wish to save sentient beings, Assisting Teacher in his journey in this human world" (Hong Yin, "Assisting the Fa") is being honored.
The above is only part of my personal experience. I hope that any improper understanding will be pointed out and rectified by our fellow practitioners.
