[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Pregnant Dafa Practitioner was Detained in Guangzhou City
Around April 14, the local police forcibly took Dafa practitioner Shi Jiaoyu away from her home. Her whereabouts are unclear now. Ms. Shi is 5 months pregnant. Her husband (Liao Xiaohong, also a Dafa practitioner) disappeared several days ago. After Ms. Shi was taken away, another Dafa practitioner went to her home to visit her. She was also taken away by the police who were hiding in Ms. Shi's home. Fortunately, she escaped. Later, another Dafa practitioner, Wu Shaochong, who visited Ms. Shi's home, was also taken into custody and detained in an unknown place.
[Yanji City, Jilin Province] Teenage Practitioners were Persecuted in Yanji City
Two 16-year old Dafa practitioners from Yanji City went to appeal in Beijing. On January 6, 2001, police from the local Xiaoying Police Station brought them back and locked them up in separate rooms. Police beat the 2 young people, detained them for 2 days, and did not allow them to eat any food. They remained calm without any fear. On January 6, 2001, their mother (who did not practice Falun Gong) was tricked into coming to the police station. Police asked her whether she gave her children money and allowed them to go to Beijing to appeal. The mother said she did not. Then the director and vice director of the police station beat her up. The mother said with anger, "I will sue you." The director ferociously replied, "You will never win, no matter where you go to sue us." They brutally beat her up for more than an hour. A lot of her hair was torn off and her face was swollen due to the beating. She was detained for15 days without reason.
On January 8, 2001, the teenagers were sent to a detention center. Police from the local police station claimed that they spent money bringing the young people back by airplane, and that their appeals in Beijing had brought trouble to the police. Therefore, the police demanded 2,000 Yuan [about $250, $60 is average monthly income in China] from the teenagers as compensation. Their aunt was forced to sell her house to pay the expensive fine.
[Hefei City, Anhui Province] Breast-feeding Mother is Tricked into Attending a "Transformation Class"
On the morning of April 25, 2001, people from my work unit (Sipailou Branch of Hefei City Construction Bank) asked me to come in with my breast-feeding baby to pick up my salary. When I arrived at my work unit, I was not allowed to go back home or make any phone calls. They told me they would send me to "Falun Gong Practitioner Transformation Class" (accommodation expense would be 1,200 Yuan per month, more than two month's wages). At the time, my father was very weak, since he just had a serious surgery not long ago. My mother was detained in a female detention center for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. My baby was only 4 months old. I told the leader of my work unit, "It will be very inhumane to send me to the 'transformation class' in my current situation. Besides, the 'transformation class' itself is illegal. It forces people by all means to give up their belief in truth. It changes a dignified cultivator into a disgraceful liar. Is there any thing more absurd than this in the world?" However, the leader said that he had no alternative. "This was ordered by the upper government. You have to attend the 'transformation class' whether you like it or not. Otherwise, the leaders of all administrative levels will be demoted."
The "transformation class" was located at the hostel of a factory. It was a very noisy place where people came back and forth. It was definitely not a suitable place for a 4-month old baby. They asked my husband to bring in all the daily needs for my baby and me. My husband asked them when the "transformation class" would be over. They told him it would be an "unlimited term." If I stayed there, my baby would have to stay there with me. So I decided to leave. I walked out of the "transformation class," amazingly, right in front of the people who were supposed to watch me.

From April 27 to May 1, police and plainclothes police could be found everywhere in a temple fair in a city of Sichuan Province. At about 5:30am on April 28, 2001, the righteous sound resounded in the sky above the city. The sound of the Dafa Radio Station broke the silence of the dawn. Afterwards, in panic, the police and plainclothes searched around the hotel where a speaker had been placed. But they did not notice the other speaker 500 meters [1640 feet] away from the hotel. Kind-hearted people listened carefully to the broadcast from that speaker. No one reported it to the police, so Dafa programs were broadcast for 3 hours, which effectively spread the truth.

May 1 was the International Labor Day. Practitioners from a city in Northeast China stepped forward again to validate Dafa. [Shayang and Wuhan Labor Camp, Hubei Province] The Situation of the Persecution Towards Falun Gong Practitioners in Female Team 6 of Wuhan Drug Rehabilitation Labor Camp and Team 203 of Shayang Labor Camp
Chen Yiqun (female) is a practitioner from Xianning City. On the morning of December 28, 1999, she was brutally beaten up by evil policeman Cao Yingjiu and was punished by being forced to kneel down for over an hour, just because she practiced Falun Gong in the Maoerdong Detention Center, Xianning City. Later on, she was sent to Team 203 in Shayang Labor Camp and was illegally sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor.
Falun Gong practitioners in Team 203 were locked up in a room for 3 months. The guards ordered the drug criminals to put filthy stuff into practitioners' mouths and beat them up while covering them with blankets. On February 10, 2000, the Teacher's new article was taken away by the police. Forty practitioners went on a hunger strike to demand the return of the article. On the 5th day of the hunger strike, Chen Yiqun was exhausted and vomited a bitter fluid. Yet, she was still dragged out to work by the clinic doctor, Liu.
Soon afterwards, these practitioners were transferred to Female Team 6 in the Wuhan (City) Drug Rehabilitation Labor Camp. Chen Yiqun, Yang Dongxiang (female) and other female practitioners refused to recite the rules of the labor camp and insisted on studying the Fa and practicing Falun Gong exercises. The evil policemen often made noises by hitting the tables and chairs [to interrupt practitioners' study and practice]. They also verbally abused the practitioners. They did not allow practitioners to go to sleep and forced them to stand up every night until dawn. The torture lasted for a week. A practitioner from Xianyang City tried to practice. Consequently, she was pulled outside on the freezing snow wearing only a shirt.
Wang Li (female) is a practitioner from Wuhan City. On April 3, 2000, she was sent to Team 6 in the Drug Rehabilitation Labor Camp. Last July, when she heard that Teacher's article was forcibly taken away by the police, she went to ask for the article to be returned. The police refused. She started a hunger strike with Chen Yiqun and other practitioners for over 10 days. She was force-fed many times during the hunger strike while performing a heavy workload.
Wang Li, Chen Yiqun and Wei Yuexiu (female) did not cooperate with the evil forces. They often practiced in the hall or at the playground of the labor camp. The evil policemen incited the drug abusers Yan Qing, Sun Jianli, Chen Li, Xu Chunzhi and others to brutally beat them up many times. Once Chen Yiqun refused to do the morning exercises with the criminals; instead, she practiced Falun Gong. Immediately, she was beaten up by more than 10 drug abusers. The Boye County Party Committee and Police Station at Bachang illegally detained innocent peasants who were busy working in the fields during the spring plowing and sowing season. Instead of dealing with important criminal cases, they paid full attention to Dafa practitioners and they took away practitioners on the excuse of holding "Transformation Class." Therefore, the peasants [who are practitioners] could neither go home nor work in the fields. Wang Fengxia (female) from Beiliutuo Village was taken to the "Transformation Class" and disappeared for 2 weeks. Everyday, her family members cried and asked for her. The secretary of the County Politics and Law Committee told her family, "You can go ahead and look for her by yourselves. We will not arrest her again if you find her." But they were the ones who took Wang Fengxia away. Now they did not even care whether she was still alive or not. The secretary was very irresponsible.
The police in Xiaodian Town and Chengdong Town arrested and released Dafa practitioners at will. Some of the police even forced the peasants to pay several hundred Yuan to attend the class. Some of them even went to a practitioner's home and demanded 10,000 Yuan. About 20 officers in the class extravagantly had meals every day that included fish and meat. People were very disappointed by their behavior. It is clear who has broken people's families and forced them to leave their own homes. How could this happen when the government claimed it would ease the burden of the peasants?
[Jiutai City, Jilin Province] Yinmahe Labor Camp Persecuted Dafa Practitioners
The Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jiutai City persecuted Dafa practitioners by brutally beating them up and forcing them to do heavy labor. Practitioners were strictly restricted on what they could talk about. The guards spread rumors and often verbally abused them. Practitioners were forced to sit still on boards for long periods of time. In addition, they tried to "transform" the practitioners with the promise of reducing their detention terms. The practitioners being held there are from cities all over Jilin Province. Among them, 20 are from Jilin City.
[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp Continues Persecuting Dafa Practitioners
The Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp in Changchun City forced Dafa practitioners to do long periods of heavy labor. Practitioners are only allowed to sleep 3 to 4 hours every day. They can only spent very little time on their meals. Some of them were forced to go back to work even before they could finish eating. In this extremely horrible environment, they suffered day and night from the shouting and abuse from the guards. The workload assigned to practitioners was beyond their physical limits. Many practitioners were unable to fulfill the assignments and had to work overtime. Some of them were so tired that they couldn't help but cry. Some were too tired to get up the next morning. The guards used electric batons to beat those who refused to break from Dafa. Li Xia of No. 3 Team refused to give up practicing and was hung from the headboard of her bed with both of her hands cuffed behind her back. The guard beat her with electric batons until she fainted. Her neck was covered with blisters due to the electric shocks. She did not recover until 3 or 4 months later.

Female Dafa practitioner Shao Chunfeng from Huangshan City was tricked out of her home by the local police station on the excuse of teaching her 10-year-old nephew the exercise. She was once again arrested. At present, she has been sentenced to 1 year forced labor and is held in Hefei City.
[Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Huizhou Police Arrest Innocent People
Dafa practitioner Yang Guang (male) from Huizhou City went to Tiananmen Square and unfurled a banner on New Year's Day of this year. He was arrested in the Square, and one of his ribs was broken. He was escorted back to a local detention center and was sentenced to 2 years forced labor after being detained over half a month in Beijing. Right before he was to be sent to the labor camp, his father was in critical condition, so the police escorted him back home to look after his father. Right before he was about to be sent back to the labor camp by the police, he realized that Dafa practitioners were innocent and should actively break through the evil's control. He then decided not to go back to the detention center. After his successful escape, his father miraculously survived the crisis.
Later, this practitioner was put on the wanted list. In order to find out his whereabouts, the police kept harassing his family members. Even the babysitter (who was not a practitioner) was detained for a week. She was later bailed out. His colleagues in Guangzhou City (also Dafa practitioners) were also suspected of being connected with his escape and were all investigated by the police. Among them, Lin Xucheng was taken away by the police and detained for a month. His wife was also forced to leave home and wander about. The police found out later that Yang Guang's wife was also a Dafa practitioner. Therefore, they tried to force her to attend the "transformation class." Luckily, she managed to walk away before the police came. Now the couple cannot return to their own home. Their relatives have to take care of their 5 and 3 year old children.
[Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Dafa Practitioners in Shouguang City were Arrested
Shouguang Dafa practitioner Luu Xinzeng, Mou Leyun (a couple) were taken away by the vicious policemen who broke into their home at midnight. They are now held in the Shouguang City Detention Center.
