At Least 20 Jailed Practitioners go on Hunger Strike in Wuhan City, Hubei Province

[Minghui Net] The Qingshan District in Wuhan City, Hubei Province has intensified its persecution against detained Dafa practitioners in the "Closed-Door Reform Class." The authorities plan to send all practitioners to solitary confinement and then brainwash them with an around-the-clock assault. Since May 29, 2001, all detained practitioners (more than 20), including the elderly, began their hunger strike. Five days later, practitioners were so weakened that most of them couldn't even get out of bed to wash their face. Their lives are in great danger. We are calling for a public outcry against this persecution!

According to the Chinese Constitution, all citizens have freedom of belief. The Qingshan District Politics and Law Committee forces citizens to abandon their belief in Falun Dafa and it's principles of Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance. This act is illegal and a gross violation of human rights.

The Politics and Law Committee Secretary Mr. Wei is the principal offender in the persecution. A police officer named He in the Political Security Section is the primary person responsible for brutally torturing Dafa practitioners.

The following is a letter from detained practitioners:

We are Dafa practitioners who are illegally jailed in the "Reform Class" by the Qingshan District. Starting May 30th, we went on a hunger strike.

Since we were detained here without paper work and due process, the violators can keep us in jail as long as they wish.

On May 24th, just because he praised Falun Dafa in front of the program staff, practitioner Chen Chongyi was forcibly led away at 11:30 p.m., while everybody was asleep and has not been seen since.

While we are detained here indefinitely, we are tortured mentally, and cannot return to our homes. The abusers accused us of being heartless and uncaring toward our families. We are deprived of everything. Should we maintain our silence and accept it? No! Facing this evil persecution, we will never give in. We want to go home. We want our freedom. We will use our lives to resist the evil persecution!

During the hunger strike, Yan Xinhua, the individual who is in charge of the "reform class," said "starve them for six days, they will not die."

Among the 20 plus detained practitioners, 8 of them are between 60 - 70 years old and 6 of them are between 50 - 60 years old. If they don't stop the persecution, the consequences will become very dangerous. We appeal to kind-hearted people in the world to provide moral support to us!

If the lives of more than 20 practitioners can awaken the conscience of people, and enable more people to see the evil persecution clearly, then we will not regret even if we lose our lives, since our lives are tightly connected with Dafa.
